Women's Vintage Raleigh Sprite (Inner SE Portland) $175

Vintage Red Raleigh Sprite in great condition. I love this bike, but I need cash! I am only the second owner of this lovely, vintage bicycle. It was manufactured in 1976 by Raleigh, a British bicycle company known for solid, high quality design. The frame best suits someone about 5'4" - 5'10" (I'm 5'4" and the bike rides fine with the seat lowered). I purchased the bike only 3 months ago for $175 and replaced the brakes and tubing at City Bikes, which ended up costing me an additional $75. I am asking $175. Cute silver basket comes attached and I'll throw in my brand new bicycle lights as well.
Please contact me via email to drop by and take a look!

I want to upgrade to a road bicycle. So I'm selling my BMX from high school.

Make: Specialized

Comes with all the trimmings for a BMX experience; pegs, Oryg gyro and front and back breaks. The handle grips have been replaced, as have the brake pads. The frame weighs about 25-30 ibs. It's a very durable frame, built to sustain abuse from drops from a height (dirt or park). I mainly used this for freestyle/flat-landing. It's in great condition for being about 8 years old. The chain is rusting, but that is easily replaced. Smooth ride - single gear.

I am willing to trade for an equal condition road cycle.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Review time (PDX)

I am not the author and original poster of this missive....but seems like a good time to review (again)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PLEASE NOTE: This probably doesn't apply to you. But some sellers need to have a good long look at this.
Everyone has the right to sell their bikes for whatever they want, but those who do not know what they are talking about need a sanity check. Granted, I know the economy is bad and you might have found a "jewel" in the rough - but for crying out loud, do some research beforehand.
The following is an elementary guide for those of you who are absolutely clueless about your garage sale or thrift store finds:

1) Just because your bike was made in Europe doesn't mean you've got a winner. They made a lot of junk, too.
2) A low end bike that was $97.00 in 1976 is not, magically, worth $400.00 now.
3) Adult bikes do not have goosenecks.
4) If the chain is conspicuously rusty and kinked in the picture, nobody is going to fall for your claims of "mint condition."
5) If you get asked how many speeds it has and do not know nor care, pull your ad. Immediately.
6) Telling us that you found it in a barn is not a rationale for overpricing it.
7) Take OFF the $10 price tag from Goodwill before you take your Craigslist picture and ask $250 for it.
8) "Light and FAST!" . . . Ok, if you say so.
9) Not everything with those kooky, curvy handlebars is a race bike.
10) Neither is a race bike "improved" by flipping those curvy handlebars upside down.
11) Don't be offended if someone offers you an insulting amount that is far less than you want for your bike - they're just smarter than you.
12) Don't get ticked off if someone low-balls you when you state "make offer" in your ad. You asked for it.
13) Tires are tires and wheels are wheels. These terms are not interchangeable.
14) Breaks should be referred to as "brakes", petles or petals as "pedals".
15) Your bike was not made by Shimano, Suntour, or Campagnolo. I know you saw that name somewhere on it, but just trust me on this one.
16) Vintage implies it was worth something when it was new, otherwise it's just OLD.
17) High tensile steel - yeah, they put a sticker on the bike that says it but I wouldn't be bragging about it.
18) Go ahead and repost that 10 speed Huffy every week - no one will tire of its charm. If you're willing to endure the humiliation, we'll be there for you until you reach your target market.
19) ALL CAPS DOES NOT MAKE IT A BETTER BIKE.
20) Pictures of the LEFT side of the bike aren't worth much of anything, nobody can see the drivetrain. All things considered, perhaps you'd rather want to hide it anyway.
21) Blurry pictures add a negative symbol to your price tag.
22) If you steal someone else's photos (not the manufacturer's) from the web and use them to represent your own bike, you are absolute scum.
23) "Suitable for fixie conversion" doesn't make a POS frame any more valuable. For that matter...WHAT makes it suitable?
24) If you think your bicycle is worth a four figure sum ($x,xxx), the LEAST you could do is to spell the brand and component names correctly (eg. Trek, not treck; Schwinn, not shwin; Campagnolo, not Campagnola; and Shimano - not shmano, shimono, or shamano)
25) Include the size of the bicycle! No, it's not the tire size. It's measured from the center of the cranks (the big sprocket) to the top of the seat tube (before the silver or black post that holds the seat [saddle].) It needs to be in either inches or centimeters. Both if you are nice.
26) NEXT, Magna, Huffy, Roadmaster, and Murray are NOT highly-respected brands. Get over it.
27) Taking a nice multispeed road bike that was posted here two days ago for a reasonable price raping it of all good derailleur parts, making it a single speed with a $22 Chinese bmx cog from performancebike.com does not double or triple its value or make it a "race bike" or "fixie".
28) There is no such thing as a road mountain bike
29) Just because you are selling it for a friend doesn't make you an expert if you are not
30) If you don't list the brand and it is unreadable in the photos, we will assume it is a POS
31) Research the going price of your bike before posting
32) Just because it cost a lot 10 years ago when it was brand new and you have barely rode it, doesn't mean it is worth 50% + of new price (see #31)
33) Just because you bought it within the past year doesn't mean someone is going to pay close to what you paid, especially if the new model years are coming out and yours is now discounted
34) Don't use terms you do not understand - if it does not have rear suspension, it is not full suspension
35) Proofread - I have never seen a bike measured in feet but I've seen a lot of 26' bikes posted
36) If it is a *mart bike and you just paid to have it "tuned up", you probably just wasted your money as the tune up was probably more than the bike is worth
37) We don't want to call for basic information you should have posted or to have you send us pictures
38) Don't sell a used helmet unless you really did just buy it, otherwise it may have been crashed and is a safety hazard
39) Chanting the words "Burning Man" does not magically make your POS bike worth hundreds of dollars.

I hope this has cleared up some things for the cycling-challenged sellers

Decent quality mountain bikes available, U-fix or ready-to-ride (Beaverton/Aloha) $50

If you're looking for a decent mountain bike for a reasonable price, read on. I have several mountain bikes that I was going to fix up and sell over the summer, I just never got around to it. Most of these bikes are older, non-suspension models (think Specialized "Hardrock" as an example), and are in need of some TLC and/or parts (tires especially) before they are ready to ride. So if you're looking for a project for the winter, I'll sell you one of these bikes "as-is" (you replace the tires, adjust the derailleurs, true up the wheels etc.). And if you're not really interested in working on bikes, I'll offer to sell you a bike in "ready-to-ride" condition, but of course the price will be higher.

So if you're interested, just tell me your gender, and what type of frame you prefer (regular or mens, or step-through / womens), and also the frame size you're looking for (if you don't know your frame size then tell me your height and I'll estimate your frame size for you). Also, if you could tell me the price range you're looking to stay within, that would be helpful (but please give me numbers, not terms such as "cheap", "low priced", etc.).

PULLED SPECS FROM THE WEB:
The Marin Lucas Valley combines road-bike performance with the comfort and enhanced field of view of an upright ride for a fun, spirited ride.
The triangular tube frame is triple butted with a carbon fork and seat stays. It's reasonably light (around 23 lbs). It's responsive and comfortable.
* 6061-grade aluminum frame features road-bike geometry, the best design for creating and maintaining speed while cruising down the avenue
* Frame is triple-butted—the tube walls are thick at the ends and narrow twice toward the middle—to maintain strength while reducing weight
* Aluminum frames are inherently vertically stiff, which promotes quick acceleration and efficient transmission of leg power through the drive train
* Flat handlebar reduces strain on your hands, wrists and shoulders, and increases your field of view so hazards are more easily seen
* Drive train features a FSA Vero 53/42/30 crankset which turns a 9-speed, 11-26 cassette for a range of gears capable of handling hills and sprints alike
* Shimano derailleurs provide responsive shifting through all 27 speeds while trigger shifters are comfortable and intuitive to use
* Power-modulated, linear-pull brakes provide controlled deceleration and full stopping power when you need it
* Wheelset features lightweight Alex rims, Formula hubs and smooth-rolling Kenda Road tires
* Equipped with a slender, lightweight WTB Speed V-Comp saddle
* Platform pedals with toe cages enhance pedaling efficiency and accommodate most athletic shoes
Some of the componentry: Hayes hydraulic disc brakes, front shocks are Bomber, rear shocks are Fox Racing.

Hey all. Today I've got a pair of brand spanking new Schwalbe Marathon 26"X1.50(40-559) tires that I need to part with. These are brand new tires that just didn't work out on a build. They are the best tires around. They retail for $38.85 each. get 'em here for a song, just $50 for the pair. Some info about the Marathon line from Schwalbe; The MARATHON is robust enough for every-day transport and dependable on longer journeys. The classic touring tire from SCHWALBE has both the resistance against punctures and durability that make it Europe's most popular long distance tire. It also has a reflective stripe(Reflex) on the sidewall for enhanced visibility. 626 grams. Wire Bead with kevlar belt. 26x1.50 (ISO 40-559). 100psi max. The legend lives on. The latest generation of the Marathon has a new tread pattern, new puncture protection, new sidewall and new compound. Its well-known qualities have also been improved - higher mileage and better puncture resistance. KevlarGuard: The Kevlar belt has been improved. Not only is the protective layer both stronger and safer, but we also succeeded in making the material considerably more flexible. The result: The level of protection is higher, while the rolling resistance is lower!

Hello,

I am, alas, selling this because it is just slightly too small. I serviced the entire bike. The headset, BB and hubs were all taken apart, cleaned and repacked with nice Phil grease. I replaced the tubes, cables and cable housing. It rides and brakes fantastically, and all components have been cleaned. The frame it straight, no wondering, no dents nor crash damage. Also, no rust damage internally. I also gave the inside of the frame a spray of water displacement 40. It does have a few pant chips and some scratches in the anodizing, but nothing too unusual for a bike this age. The bike is from between '82 & '84. My guess is the later, because it has 700c wheels, which was not the case with all Gran Rallys.

59 cm Frame Double-Butted Tubing
Suntour Long drop-outs
Shimano 600 EX (Ultegra) Brakes, Cranks 52/42 w/quick key, F/R Derailleurs, BB shifter and brake calipers
Suntour Winner Freewheel
Tange Headset
700c Aero Araya Rims with Sealed Suntour Hubs.
23mm tires

Fully serviced, cleaned and rides great. The chain rings and freewheel show little wear. I put few miles on it and nor did the original owner. Do a Craigslist and Ebay search in the US. This bike is currently going from between $400 and $250.

Let me know if you are interested, thanks.

Hey all. I've got some Nitto Albatross bars with Honey colored Brooks Leather Barwrap that I no longer need. These are the B352 560mm size. The larger of the two Albatross styles. Perfect for a porteur or constructeur bike, or a Rivendell type build. I used these with shellacked cork grips that I've repurposed. So you can pop on another pair or re-wrap from the bar ends. The bars go $60 each and the Brooks tape was about $45(now $80)when I bought it some years ago. Take the whole enchi for $60. Drop a line here or call 503-290-6871 to have a look see. Thanks!!

This is a 12 speed Schwinn that was probably built in the mid eighties. It was built in Japan and made of double butted Cro-Mo 4130. It is a 23" size frame; a good size for a rider about 6'-6'3". It has alloy wheels and a Blackburn wrack. It shifts and brakes well and is in good condition with usual wear and tear for it's year. It's components are early Shimano Altus and it has a Maxy three piece crank. If you would like to come see it and take it out for a ride, feel free to shoot me an e-mail.
Product Description
Product Description
By providing an ultra-realistic feel, the Blackburn Trakstand Ultra Bicycle Trainer will help you get (or stay) in peak cycling shape when it is unfeasible to actually be out on your bicycle. The Trakstand Ultra features Blackburn's patented Centriforce resistance unit with a centrifugal clutch for an amazingly smooth, silent and progressive resistance that feels just like a hard road ride. Unlike magnetic and fluid trainers that lose speed quickly, the Centriforce system has a smooth rollout when coasting so your pedal stroke feels more natural in the dead spots, or when you ease up on the pedals.
The Ultra also features an adjustable height that allows the rear wheel to be as close as 0.5-inches to the ground so you don't have to prop up the front wheel. Constructed of a durable folding aluminum frame, Blackburn's Trakstand Ultra includes three different resistance curves for a custom feel, replaceable friction-resistance elements, and a five-year limited warranty.

About Blackburn
In 1975, Jim Blackburn set out to design stronger, lighter, more innovative and more reliable cycling products. The first were bags and racks designed for touring. From there, Blackburn grew. Over the next 30 years, Blackburn's spark of innovation would lead to many revolutionary products, like the first high quality aircraft aluminum rack, the first dual stroke minipump, the first oversized mountain minipump and the first dual stage/dual stroke floorpump just to name a few. For 2005, Blackburn's creative spark is burning brighter than ever. And as we head into our 30th year, Blackburn is re-dedicated to designing smart, reliable, no nonsense accessories that are essential to your riding experience.

This is the only BMX bicycle I have found with the Pro cable with the Gyro-spin. The breaks could use a tune up and the rear tire needs to be replaced. If I do the work on the bike I will be asking more for it.

Product Description
Cruise around town in relaxed style with the Diamondback Wildwood men's comfort bike. The Wildwood offers many of the same comforts and features as the Wildwood Deluxe, but with a more comfortable price tag. The Wildwood is equipped with a heat-treated aluminum frame with Laid Back Comfort (LBC) geometry, a 50mm comfort suspension fork, seven-speed twist shifters, and a DB comfort saddle with super-soft foam. It also offers a few upgrades from the Diamondback Wildwood Citi bike, including compact gearing, puncture-resistant tires, and Biologic dual-density comfort grips. Add the features together and you have a terrific bike for rides to the grocery store or casual commutes.

About Diamondback's LBC Geometry
During the development of LBC Geometry, Diamondback engineers were faced with the challenge of making the comfort bike more comfortable and easier to use without compromising its handling and maneuverability. They started by tilting the seat tube back. Way back. This allows the rider to be seated further behind the bottom bracket and in a lower position, which not only makes for a more stable and comfortable ride, but also allows for full leg extension to the pedals. At the same time, the design still keeps the rider seated low enough on the bike that he or she can quickly and easily plant both feet firmly on the ground. The result is happier knees and much easier mounting and dismounting.

Once the rider's ideal position was determined, the engineers recognized two places they could improve the handling of the bike by not changing anything at all. Whereas other companies have been tempted to lengthen the chainstays and tilt the head tube back, Diamondback engineers opted for another approach, leaving the length of the rear end alone to maintain superior shifting performance and stable handling. Then they designed a new comfort handlebar with more back sweep, helping bring the handle grips within reach. Because the angle and location of the head tube remains unchanged, Diamondback didn't compromise the performance of the bike.

The Wildwood offers Diamondback's elegant LBC geometry.
