Controller - Heavy Metal
We are one of the premier Harley Davidson dealerships in the country, and are looking for a unique financial professional to join us as we continue our growth and success. If you find working around chrome, horsepower, custom paint, and too many accessories and tools to fit in your garage a fun and exciting prospect, we do too!
This position is viewed as a strong part of our management team, and is not a ‘back-office’ person. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate to our leadership team the following qualities:
- Enthusiast in our business. We love the power sports business and want to continue to hire people that love it too!
- Strong operational experience. Dealership management experience is not critical, but a mechanical aptitude or working in an industry like engineering or a manufacturing business would be of strong benefit.
- Cash flow forecasting and business modeling. These skills are crucial to this position in order to help chart our course.
- Experience with automated accounting systems, operational systems, implementing new processes, proper controls and safeguards, and monitoring results.
- The ability to creatively report the business operations and financial results. We need more than just a balance sheet and income statement.
- Being a strong advisor and consultant to the owner and the leadership team, good at communicating historical as well as forward-looking financial results.
- Being a mentor to the staff and other employees.
Of course the usual qualifications apply as well; you need to be a degreed professional with 5-8 years of experience as Controller managing an Accounting and Finance function. You have a working knowledge of GAAP, systems of internal controls, G/L accounting, Inventory control, and cash management principles.
You should be able to demonstrate some other traits from your current or recent job:
- People in your organization came to you simply because you were approachable.
- Equally good at managing a situation or rolling up your sleeves and getting it done yourself.
- You were viewed by all levels of staff as someone that can solve problems and be counted upon to find creative solutions
- Mostly you were viewed as a business advisor and mentor, warning of potential pitfalls, strengthening all aspects of the operations, and exploiting opportunities for profit.
If you have these qualities and qualifications, we should talk! Please send a resume and cover letter that gives us some idea of your experience with the qualities mentioned above, we’d love to hear from you.
