With the loss of the federal timber revenue, Clackamas County said it could no longer fund libraries. Clackamas County stated that if the county didn't approve a library service district in November - at a cost of nearly 40 cents per 1000 dollars of assessed value in your home - then libraries in the county would be closed.

Wellllll, with the recent 700 billion bailout plan enacted by the federal government, Oregon's timber revenue has been restored for the next 4 years.

Why is Clackamas County continuing to ask taxpayers for more money when the library revenue has been returned through the timber revenue???? If the Library Tax Ballot Measure passes, what is Clackamas County going to do with the millions of dollars from the timber revenue that traditionally went to libraries?

There is no need to vote for the Clackamas County Library Tax Measure this November. With the worst economic crises since the great depression...we don't need county governments growing their budgets.
