WEB DEVELOPER
We are seeking new full-time salaried team members to drive the design and development needs of our company web site. US Digital prides its reputation for having a powerful online presence in the motion-control industry, and we want to continue enforcing that reputation by recruiting sharp, innovative designers and developers to construct and maintain an improved user experience that will keep us far ahead of the curve.
An ideal candidate for this position would have an in-depth understanding of user-centered web application development, a great eye for UI design, and a strict adherence to web standards, usability, and semantics.
Responsibilities
• Conceptualizing, prototyping, designing, and optimizing large-scale web application(s)
• Designing high-quality, competition-busting web interfaces with user-experience considerations in mind
• Working directly with marketing team to help conceptualize new client-facing features and interactions
• Working directly with server and DB administrators as needed, pertaining to project-related ideas and issues
• Documenting and unit testing code as needed
• Participate in special projects or task forces as requested
• Other duties both major and minor may be assigned
Qualifications
• Must be interested in web industry trends, emerging web technologies, and web standards.
• Understanding and practice of semantic markup, scalable style sheets, and non-obtrusive scripting
• Good sense of UI design, UI patterns, and web typography
• Good grasp on object-oriented PHP5 development
• In-depth knowledge of Photoshop, (X)HTML, CSS2/3, JavaScript/jQuery, and AJAX utilization
• Basic understanding of SQL queries, ability to call them through database abstraction layer
• Basic understanding of web application security best practices
• Experience with JavaScript libraries and/or CSS frameworks a big plus
• Some experience using PHP application frameworks (like Zend) is a big plus
• Some experience with Subversion or Git source-control clients is a big plus
• To have a wide degree of creativity and latitude is a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all employees on all levels of management.
• Experience working in a fast pace, high change environment, with limited supervision: self-starter.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent prioritization and follow up skills.
• Possess leadership skills and ability to be led in a manner that is healthy to our positive work environment.
• Emphasizes personal and professional growth. Keeps knowledge and skills current.
• Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to be part of a team in order to produce quality materials within tight timeframes.
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to read and write in English.
• Authorized to work in the US.
• Fluency in other foreign language(s) is a plus.
• Be able to perform basic physical tasks such as lifting 25 lbs, reading, nimbleness of hands for typing and writing.
