Chervona, a local band on the rise, is looking for one or more video-inclined person(s) to join our team. We are a multicultural, multilingual band that plays high energy music inspired by Eastern European, Klezmer and Gypsy traditions. Our "story" focuses on the Russian-born founders of the group and their struggle to establish a band in the States as well as the recent surge in demand for Eastern European music, especially in Portland. Since our line up consists of both American-born and non-American-born players (three members of the band have emigrated from the former Soviet Union, one from Poland, our vision artist from Lithuania), there is also a story within the band to be told centering around culture and language.

Next to gigs at festivals and in venues, we play an active role in the Portland community (bike events, social events etc.) and we'd love to get some documentary-style video (live performance, interviews etc.) of the band's happenings, both on and off the stage. You'll have full access to gigs, rehearsals and any other band interactions you'd like to attend and/or shoot. You'll also have a huge amount of artistic input in determining what the final product looks like. We've been envisioning a monthly installment to distribute to fans on youtube primarily but if you have other ideas or concepts in mind we'd love to hear them.

As our budget for video at the moment consists solely of perks, this gig is unpaid, but if you're looking for a great story to put on your reel, great times, fun shows, free drinks, food and creative folks to work with, give us a call. We'd like to have someone on board to start shooting by November 28th, if possible. Student Project - Training Video/Slideshow (Portland)

This is a pro bono, no money available, asking for help project.
A non-profit here in Portland needs to redo their video they use to train new workers to help with the handicapped people they serve.
It's sort of a 'History of' plus instructional ins and outs of working with the organization and its clients.

It need not be video - could be a series of still shots and slides with information in them, assembled into a slideshow type format with a voiceover. Probably an MP3.

I won't give you some spin about any plans to market the film and for your trouble you will "get your name recognized" by some pie in the sky producer that could make you famous. This is just a need.
It would make a great student project or pro bono that you could put on your reel or resume.
I could also see about a tax advantage by getting a 501 (c) 3 certificate for the value of your work.

I am a Seattle filmmaker who needs someone to help me with field audio on Sunday, November 15th. Basically, I just need somebody who knows how to use a boom and mixer effectively. I have the equipment, but if you prefer to use your own that is ok too. The documentary I�m working on (working title: Channel P) is about the often visionary, quite often eccentric, and always-determined citizens that make public access television shows. The shoot should be an easy one and hopefully a lot of fun! I currently have no funds for this position, but I can offer transportation, lunch, coffee, snacks�. I can also offer a credit in the film and a good reference. I am shooting for a feature length final product that will be submitted to the festival circuit, and whatever else happens from there�.

I can see myself in the same kind of situation months from now, with lots of digital files all needed color correction and sound synchronization (making sure the sounds match the lips). Sure, you can always correct the colors by making wild guesses, but as for mixing and remixing the sound, it helps to have a reliable file of the ambient background sound. (Geeze, why else would I be buying so many microphones and digital audio recorders, than I anticipate the worst possible case, the sound just isn't good enough for a theater's projection system?)

Naturally, I too am curious.

As for myself, I need a cast and crew too.

A private high school is mounting Alice in Wonderland (a newer darker version, not Disney.) We need a costumer with sewing skills, a set designer with building and painting skills (pieces, not a full set), a make up artist.
A stipend will be offered. This is a part time gig. You come in, commune with Madame Director, see what we've got, plan 2-3 days of work and implementation with the students, get paid, lots of thank you's and a cool item on your resume.
Our kids are quirky and fun to be around.

Fun with 3D animation for preproduction (Multnomah Village)

We are making a movie for fun and experience and are hoping to find additional team members that want to have fun with us.

The movie will be a live action film, but for now we are creating an animated storyboard (3D animatic) for planning purposes.

The process of creating the 3D animatic has been a fun way for our team to learn about creating simple animations. The final film is not animated, so we can achieve something useful without being animation gurus.

This may not be a rewarding process to someone who wants to create the perfect 3D model or master the intricacies of animation. Our team members are more interested in the overall animatic process, having fun with the challenge of using the tools to communicate their visual interpretation of the scene.

So we are targeting director/producer types who are capable of using technology and have a passion for the pre-production process. We use Blender 3D for our animation pipeline. Prior experience with the software is not necessary.

It seems unlikely that advanced artists and professionals would find this activity as entertaining as we do. Although we always appreciate helpful advice, if you consider yourself in this category, you are not the target participant.

Our team can accommodate rank beginners to those with an intermediate level of skills in 3D animation. We get together with our notebook computers once a week at a coffee shop. Participants need to have their own computer with at least 1GB of RAM memory. We will help you acquire the necessary software (all open source) and teach you what we know.
