We have two adorable, bright 4 old boys. Our Nanny of 4 plus years is graduating from PSU and leaving her employment with us in January 2010. We are looking for a responsible, reliable, caring, organized, energetic person who has a reliable, insured car and great driving record to be our Nanny and Family Helper. And, be a dog lover. The hours are approximately 35 hours per week.

Start date: January 4, 2010
Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30am-8:30am and 12:00pm-6pm. Our boys attend preschool at Helen Gordon Child Development Center at PSU downtown. It would be your job to help get them ready in the morning, take them to school at 8-8:30'ish and pick them up at 12:00pm and do fun activities with them until we come home at 6pm.

Your child care/nanny responsibilities: we would love for you to be creative, active, love the outdoors, have first aid training, and be bilingual OR musical OR artistic OR have some other exciting skill. At school (and at home we try very hard) to develop our boys with a constructivist child development approach.

Your family helper responsibilities: cooking dinner and doing laundry are the two main activities. We would like someone fairly comfortable with cooking, a very good cook would be a bonus. Also, we have a golden retriever dog and would love for you to include walking him in your daily activities, usually pushing the boys in double runner stroller for 30-60 minutes in the late afternoon works best. There are other miscellaneous family helper tasks, but no regular heavy duty household chores.

Please respond with a cover letter, your resume, if you have references, and when you are available.

We are looking for a teacher for our Infant/Toddler Development Center: a dedicated infant and toddler teacher. This position is part time (approximately 24-32 hours) until December 1st and then it will be a full-time position.
This teacher must possess a college degree in Early Childhood or Human Development. The teacher we seek is jovial, intuitive, talented, patient, experienced, compassionate, and empathetic. He or she will possess strong writing skills, will be highly organized, committed, and able to maintain open communication with parents. We serve both the children and their families.
Due to the nature of the environment at The Children's Hour Academy, teachers are asked to commit to a minimum of two years at the onset of their employment in order to provide our children with the continuity of care for which we are well known. Our school is based on attachment caregiving. It is one of safety, comfort, nurturing and predictability for the children entrusted to our school. This is not exclusive to our infant/toddler center but, rather the entire school population. The benefit of our small class sizes and individualized educational goals can only be realized when the relationship between the student, teacher and parent is one of trust and familiarity. Teacher turnover can have a significant detrimental impact on students and on the overall culture of the school.

Infant/Toddler Teacher requirements are: Must have RIE principles and developmentally appropriate practices experience. Ideal candidate will have solid interpersonal communication skills with children and adults. We require strong observation, writing, documentation skills and able to write lesson plans.

The Infant/Toddler Center welcomes children ages three months through three years, and the Meridian Campus welcomes children preschool through sixth grade. Our school is open 12 months of the year. Classroom sizes are limited. We offer a tuition discount for staff children, professional continuing education credit hours quarterly, health insurance benefits after 90 days, and a fun and dedicated team. The initial position is part-time until December 2009 and then converts to full-time .

If this sounds like the opportunity you have been looking for and you meet all of the above criteria for applying, please submit a resume via email to info@childrens-hour.com. Unqualified applicants will not be considered. Nanny experience does not meet our qualifications.
