The OHSU departments of Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychiatry are seeking regular smokers, aged 18 or older, for a research study comparing brain functioning during decision-making in smokers and nonsmokers. In the study, we will use functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) to look at brain activity.

After an 1-hour health-screening that includes drug, alcohol, and pregnancy testing, eligible participants will return for a 1-hour orientation session and a 2-hour experimental session including fMRI scanning.

During the orientation and experimental sessions, participants will complete several questionnaires and a computer task.

PLEASE NOTE: This study is not designed to help you quit smoking.

Eligible participants will be compensated $30 for their time, as well as money earned from the computer tasks (Up to $100).

Required qualifications:
• Must be available between 11am and 4pm on weekdays for dog walker position (additional hours optional)
• Must have previous dog handling experience (must be able to walk, restrain, and redirect multiple dogs at once)
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle in which you can safely transport dogs
• Must have cell phone and email access; ability to respond promptly to phone calls or emails
• Must be willing to obtain Pet First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must love animals
• Impeccable work ethic – reliable, punctual, organized
• Ability to follow detailed directions and employ good judgment
• Respect for the needs of clients (both animals and their people), and willingness to carry out job-specific requests
• Willingness to use only positive reinforcement handling methods (training provided)
• Must be able to make 1 year commitment
• Must be physically able to perform job duties and work outdoors in all kinds of weather
• Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and other Plucky Puppy staff
• Must be able to pass background check and provide professional references

Desired qualifications:
• Graduate of DogTec, SF SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers, Animal Behavior College, or similar training program
• Experience with or interest in training dogs
• Vet tech education or experience
• Volunteer experience with animal rescue, shelter, Humane Society
• Pet First Aid and CPR certification
