Columbia PhytoTechnology LLC is a quickly growing company that produces high quality fruit and vegetable powders for the expanding global nutritional supplements market. We are located in the scenic Columbia River Gorge, which offers easy access to a wide variety of recreational activities. The Gorge is a great place to live!

We are currently seeking an individual to fill our Production Lead position. This is a career position with opportunity for advancement as the position develops and the company grows. The ideal candidate is interested in nutrition and organic food and has a strong desire to succeed.

Position Description:

The Production Lead performs all work of the production staff but with added duties and responsibilities. The Lead provides the first level of supervision of production staff and immediate oversight of the production process. The Lead has the following duties and responsibilities:

· Reviews assigned tasks and directs and coordinates the other production staff to complete the tasks on time.

· The Lead performs the same work as the production staff and is closely involved in all the tasks to ensure they're being performed satisfactorily. This work involves storage of raw materials, staging it and preparing it to be dried, applying it for drying, product removal and storage, final processing and packaging. This work also includes monitoring the process, record keeping, equipment assembly and preparation and cleaning of the equipment and the food production areas.

· The Lead is responsible for knowing the processing procedures to ensure they're being followed. The lead also is responsible for knowing the product specifications and ensuring product is being made to specification.

· Must continually monitor work flow througout the shift to make sure work is being performed efficiently and tasks will be completed in a timely manner.

· Communicate with other leads to make them aware of issues which might affect them and to ensure an orderly transition to the next shifts. Provide information to management about production issues to resolve problems and to maintain efficiency.

· Communicate with production supervisor about performance and attendance issues. Provide input to production supervisor about performance of production staff.


Education, Skills and Experience Required:

· College degree or significant college coursework. Courses taken in the physical sciences is desirable.

· Experience in food production, including food processing, restaurant management or supervision.

· Leadership skills and the ability to supervise and promote teamwork.

· Desire to learn and take on significant responsibilities.

· Flexible nature, highly motivated, reliable and persistent.

· Willingness to work any shift plus weekends.

· Ability to learn manufacturing processes, adhere to procedures, and perform good record keeping.

· Ability to learn quickly and to solve problems.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and organize daily activities to finish required work.

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to stand for long hours and perform repetitive tasks while remaining alert. The qualified candidate must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.


Compensation: $10-12/hour to start, up to $15/hour as lead. Benefits are not available at this time.
