The Bridgetown Thunder, an adult baseball team in Portland, is looking for experienced, committed players for the 2010 season. Specifically, the team is seeking players, aged 21-30, with high-school varsity or college experience to round out its roster. The Thunder is entering its sixth season of baseball in the Portland area and is coming off a 23-7 season. Portland Paranormal Society is a small team established in 2007 with grass-root beginnings. Striving for the strictest adherence to the laws of science we have tried to define what is really unexplained and what is just worldly phenomenon. • There are no meditation groups in Portland that are non-religious. Even those that seem to be secular are often hiding an agenda.
• I am fascinated by the psychological and physiological effects of meditation, yet I don't have any interest in bowing, praying, listening to sermons about karma, Buddha statues, having a guru, paying thousands of dollars for a meditation course, etc.
• I want to give people a no-nonsense alternative to the religious and new age groups.

Who?

• Anyone with an interest in meditating regularly
• People who, like me, find it difficult to stay on schedule without the help of a group
• Beginners welcome!

Where?

• My apartment, downtown Portland
• If the weather's nice: South Park Blocks by PSU

When?

• Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 8 PM to 9 PM (you don't have to come all three days!)
• Three 15-minute meditation periods with stretch breaks in between, and optional instruction/discussion

How?

• Concentration on the sensations of breathing
• Mindfulness / shikantaza
• Walking meditation
• Please bring your own bench / cushion / blanket / etc.! I have hardwood floors, so you'll need something to be comfortable.
