JOB SUMMARY: The payroll technician is responsible for the timely and accurate review of certified payroll and assist with preparation of payroll for Doyon Government Group, Construction Entities. Processes payroll and makes tax deposits. Facilitates Workers Comp financial reporting and auditing. Completes quarterly and year-end federal and state filings and Form W-2’s. Prepares bank transfers and deposits. Performs accounts payable functions in absence of accounts payable technician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Maintenance of internal control procedures to ensure transactions is recorded timely and accurately.
•Review and understand contract terms and conditions as they relate to job positions.
•Reconciliation of the subsidiary systems with the general ledger
•Coordination and communication with management and field personnel
•Research of accounting related questions
•Respond to external auditors and third party inquires
•Provide support to other accounting functions
•Maintain filing.
•Accurate data entry
•Cross train in the following positions: Accounts Payable.
•May be able to assist in other projects as requested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
•Detail-oriented with a priority for accuracy in spelling and mathematics
•Reliable, organized and able to work well under pressure
•Account reconciliation
•Able to execute Journal Entries
•Knowledgeable of computerized accounting systems
•Knowledge of job cost coding
•Knowledge and experience with Labor Tracking Systems for payroll billing purposes
•Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
•Ability to work independently and effectively with a team to meet deadlines.
•Ability to comprehend detailed contract specifications.
•Ability to learn customized software programs
•Ability to communicate effectively orally using tact and courtesy
•Strong oral/written communication skills
•Strong customer service skills.
•Prefer experience with Deltek software
•10 key proficiency
•Excellent computer skills – Proficient in Excel
•Ideal candidate will have some college level accounting
QUALIFICATIONS:
•High School Diploma or GED (required).
•1 to 3 years experience in accounting field (required).
•Associates Degree in Accounting or equivalent (preferred).
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities
