POSITION SUMMARY
The Institute for Natural Resources at Oregon State University invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Coordinator for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Project. This project is funded for two years. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director. The purpose of this position is to serve as the Project Coordinator for the ARRA Integrated Fuels Prioritization Project, a joint project between the College of Forestry and the Institute for Natural Resources, for the U.S. Forest Service. The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing activities by COF and INR to successful project completion. Work involves overseeing project module work, developing contingency plans, and tracking overall project timelines and budget to ensure the quality and timeliness of all deliverables, and developing required project reporting. The Project Coordinator will coordinate and integrate the work of project module teams to ensure quality deliverables that are on-time and within budget. The Project Coordinator must communicate effectively to establish and convey performance/deliverables expectations for all project team members. Project Coordinator will also work with the project business lead and U.S. Forest Service administrative staff to ensure that all ARRA requirements are adhered to during the course of the project. The Project Coordinator must clearly understand the scope of work for the project, the U.S. Forest Service's expectations, and the resources required to successfully complete each module of the project and the overall project. The position is also responsible for taking on special projects at the discretion of the INR Director or Associate Director.
This position is based in Corvallis, with frequent travel to Portland, and occasional travel to New Mexico and Arizona.
MINIMUM/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree (in a natural resource-/environmental-related field such as environmental science, forestry, ecology, fisheries, geography, wildlife, natural resource conservation, or some other related field of study) with at least 5 years experience in program and project management and working for or with state, federal, or local natural resources/environmental management and research agencies and programs that affect Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.
- Must have understanding of and experience with Oregon natural resources and natural resources organizations and agencies, policies, and management. Experience working cooperatively with interdisciplinary and inter-institutional teams on high-visibility projects preferred. Demonstrated understanding of ways to use web-based technology to serve natural resources information is preferred.
- Experience in building and fostering relationships with diverse stakeholders. Experience in addressing scientifically challenging natural resource/environmental policy problems. Broad research, education and policy experience in natural resource-/environmental-related fields.
- Demonstrated success in bringing innovative and entrepreneurial approaches to science-based natural resource/environmental problems. Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage and/or participate in multiple on-going projects. Demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships with diverse stakeholders. A willingness to commit to the goals of Oregon State University, including a demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity at OSU. Strong interpersonal skills in a fast-paced, deadline oriented, and changing environment. Excellent ability to handle multiple tasks and many administrative details. Strong planning, strategizing, managing, monitoring, scheduling, and communication skills. A willingness to commit to the goals of Oregon State University.
