Class Descriptions:

AFRO-BRAZILIAN DANCE: THIS IS A HIGH ENERGY AND EXULTANT EXPLORATION OF SACRED DANCE FROM BRAZIL WHICH REPRESENTS THE ORIXAS. ORIXAS MAKE UP A PANTHEON OF AFRICAN DEITIES THAT EMBODY DIFFERENT FORCES OF NATURE AND ENERGY, SUCH AS FIRE, THE OCEAN, THUNDER, INDUSTRY, SENSUALITY, THE HUNT, AND SO FORTH. BY DANCING THE MOVEMENTS OF AN ORISHA, ONE CAN EXPLORE THE EMBODIMENT OF THESE DIFFERENT ARCHETYPES.

AFRO-CUBAN DANCE: THIS CLASS IS SIMILAR TO THE AFRO-BRAZILIAN CLASS IN ITS CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE. CUBAN SACRED DANCE IS INTRICATELY WOVEN TOGETHER WITH THE MUSIC OF INTERLOCKING DRUM RHYTHMS. THESE UNIQUE MOVEMENTS WILL CHALLENGE THE LANGUAGE OF YOUR BODY AND ITS RHYTHMIC SKILLS.

SAMBA: COME ENJOY THE CELEBRATORY CARNIVAL DANCE FROM BOTH THE REGIONS OF RIO DE JANEIRO AND SALVADOR. KICK THE WEEKEND OFF BY LIBERATING THE BODY TO MOVE IN YOUR OWN WAY THAT'S BOTH SOPHISTICATED AND SENSUAL. GUARANTEED TO GIVE YOU A WORKOUT AND A LIGHTER DAY!
