Healing Arts Resource Project
We’re putting together a directory of folks in the local area who are practitioners of natural / herbal medicine, massage therapy, acupuncture and all other forms of alternative healing practices and am in need of information from all whom may be interested in being part of an alternative health care network.
Our community is rich in resources when it comes to well educated, active practitioners of effective and efficient methods of healing which, if properly organized, promoted and made available, could be utilized and in turn be the saving grace that can keep us out of the inherently corrupt institution of western “health care” and give ourselves a chance to prove that we are capable as a community of tending to many of the things we otherwise feel like we have no other option but to turn to clinics and hospitals for, or worse yet, completely ignore for lack of funds or knowledge.
The project as it is now will consist of a handful of initiatives:
- create a concise, easy-to-use and highly accessible directory of local practitioners organized by skill set including names, locations, contact information and brief descriptions of experience level and details on their practice. fees and/or trade options can be posted or simply discussed in private.
- if and when a solid number of practitioners make themselves available begin scheduling periodic skill shares in which we can utilize one of the many spaces currently at our disposal to have a forum for discussion and education on specific styles of healing / health care to broaden and refine our own skills and educate ourselves as a community
- create a network of practitioners which can promote one another and become a viable option for our community in the care and maintenance of our health and well-being
We will also be in need of anyone who can donate time to web site design and maintenance, anyone who has connections with spaces that would be willing to host small skill shares / conferences, folks who may be interested in expanding on this idea in any form or fashion and aiding us in giving it life and making it thrive.

Yes, some bicyclists are a problem, but the laws are written as such that bicyclists are NOT allowed on the sidewalks with pedestrians. They don't belong there, they belong in the street, driving with traffic. A bicyclist driving on the sidewalk could get a ticket.
What needs to happen is the police need to start ticketing bicyclists that drive the wrong way on the road, run stop signs, and otherwise break laws.

Tuition, books, bus tickets, and child care are provided FREE of charge. Humanity in Perspective (HIP), a program of the Oregon Council for the Humanities and Reed College, meets two evenings per week in downtown Portland from September through March.
HIP is a unique educational opportunity for adults eighteen and older who have annual incomes of less than $20,000 for an individual or $40,000 for a family of four. The ideal HIP candidate is curious, excited to be part of a learning community, and can commit to a seven-month program. Some applicants have taken college courses before; many have not. HIP students are not required to have a high school diploma or GED but must be able to speak and write fluently in English. HIP is for adults who do not already have a college degree and who face financial barriers to continuing their education.
As a HIP student, you will be part of a supportive intellectual community. You’ll read challenging books, meet new people, and share ideas. HIP can change your life!
