JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Gymnastics Instructor - (Part - time)

East Portland Community Center, located in outer east Portland in the Mall 205 area, is seeking a qualified individual for a Gymnastics Instructor position (address, phone & fax listed below).

REQUIREMENTS
 Experience in teaching gymnastics to ages 2-12 year-olds in a recreational setting
 Ability to instruct physical activities with an emphasis on safety
 Skill in working effectively with youth and parents
 Strong communication, organizational, and lesson planning skills
 Ability to work in culturally and economically diverse neighborhoods
 Current First Aid/CPR or other certifications is desirable
 Experience working with youth is desirable

DATES/HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT
Tuesdays 1:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Thursdays 9:15 am – 1:45 pm

PAY RANGE AND WORK WEEK
$15.00/hour to $18.00/hour – based on qualifications and experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

1. Instruct classes; demonstrate knowledge, skill & ability in gymnastics
2. Communicate with staff regarding needs for supplies, etc.
3. Instruct classes in a safe manner. Keep instruction area safe.
4. Develop a rapport with class members and respond to questions & concerns.
5. Deal effectively with conflict resolution and be able to communicate with participants, other staff and parents.
6. Maintain accurate attendance records & return them to the office.
7. Set up & take down class equipment as necessary. Keep area clean.
8. Maintain control of students & facility area at all times to ensure safe & effective classes.
