Social media marketing intern

Second Porch, a brand new exciting Portland-based start-up company, has taken the vacation home rental and trading space by storm, with its first Facebook application for renting and trading vacation homes. Recently featured in the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune and TechCrunch, among others, the site is the fastest growing vacation home rental site today.

We need a high-energy marketing intern, or two, to help us in myriad different ways--identifying and reaching out to vacation home owners and inviting them to list their homes in our site, helping to promote the listed homes to potential renter guests using Facebook, Twitter and other social tools, and helping us build our own base of Fans and Followers. You will dive into a set of marketing strategies and be able to suggest new ones as you gain experience.

The ideal candidate has a solid knowledge of social media and a thirst to learn much more. You should be active on Facebook and Twitter already. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be available to work for us 10+ hours a week minimum. You should also have a laptop and some flexible time segments available now.

This is an unpaid position but invaluable in hands-on, multidimensional marketing experience. You will learn social media marketing inside and out, have the ability to be part of an exciting new start-up with lots of local buzz, and sit alongside award-winning marketing executives and learn as much as you can absorb about marketing strategy, positioning, community building and social outreach. Not to mention the fact that the vacation home rental market is the fastest and most exciting segment within lodging today and ripe with opportunity.
