Wieden+Kennedy, an independently owned advertising agency located in Portland, Oregon, is recruiting for a Media Planner. W+K was founded in 1982 and currently has 1000 employees working in Portland, New York, Amsterdam, Tokyo, London, Delhi and Shanghai. Summary of Position:
Responsible for assisting in the development of media plans. Implements and monitors the approved plans. Includes gathering data/research and producing/maintaining support documents and tools. Responsible for the development and work quality of AMPs.
Essential Functions:
• Concepts, analyzes and implements media marketing objectives and strategies for assigned brand
• Aids in the strategic interpretation of research required for making target recommendations and appropriate media planning
• Solves problems via proficiency in media and math concepts/formulae
• Applies working knowledge of all types of media in order to increase messages’ visibility/impact
• Keeps abreast of current events, media trends and any target market industry trends that impact a client’s business by meeting with media vendors to hear the latest trends in communications
• Issues RFPs (requests for proposals) to print publications
• Initiates negotiations with print media for the most favorable rates, positioning and added-value merchandising
• Accompanies OOH buyers on market rides to ensure billboards, bus shelters, etc. are correct
• Checks print publications for proper positioning and ad reproduction
• Conducts make-good negotiations with publications in case of errors
• Reviews and evaluates pre-buy and post-buy analyses in order to help determine future buys
• Resolves invoice discrepancies (print/OOH)
• Oversees/monitors media budget
• Researches and prepares special reports in response to client requests
• Evaluates new media opportunities and issues recommendations for client
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 2+ years media experience in a creative advertising agency preferred
• Experience working in an integrated fashion with strategic planners and creatives
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• A proven track record of gaining trust and respect by consistently demonstrating sound critical thinking skills and maintaining composure in stressful situations
• Exceptional written, verbal and negotiation skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of employees and attention to detail and follow-through skills
