Youth Technology Specialist 0.5 FTE
Description: Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is the leading provider of HIV prevention, education, housing, advocacy and support services in Oregon and Southwest Washington. We are seeking a part time (20 hours a week) Youth Technology Specialist to work with a diverse group of young people on using social networking and media technology to enhance peer to peer education for HIV prevention and sexual health. This position is part of a three year project, called CHAT-PDX, which aims to reduce HIV transmission among youth at highest risk for HIV including racial/ethnic and sexual/gender minority and homeless youth. This position reports to the Manager of Education Services.
Minimum Qualifications:
• GED or High School Diploma
• 1-2 years experience with web-based social networking tools (myspace, twitter, facebook, blogs, etc.)
• Strong understanding of youth culture, specifically racial and ethnic minority youth, homeless youth, youth in foster care, students in alternative schools, and sexual and gender minority youth
• Demonstrated computer and keyboard proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook), Macintosh Computers, and working knowledge of the internet
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have public speaking and group facilitation experience
• Successful experience working with racial and ethnic minority youth
• Successful experience working with diverse populations
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience using web-based social networking tools for community organizing/building
• Experience in video production, editing, and design
• Experience with graphic and/or web design
• Experience in youth HIV prevention education
• Strong understanding of basic adolescent sexual health information
• Previous experience working with volunteers
• Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish
