CODA, Inc., Portland’s oldest and most comprehensive non-profit drug, alcohol and mental health treatment agency has an immediate opening for a MEDICAL RECORDS SPECIALIST II.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, union eligible position located at our Portland Recovery Center. The starting pay is $10.67 per hour, increasing to $11.31 per hour upon successful completion of the six-month trial service period. 19 hours per week; schedule negotiable.

DUTIES: Assist with the maintenance, protection, retrieval and auditing of all medical records and provide customer service for staff and clients at an alcohol, drug, and mental health treatment program. Oversee chart audits, verifying that records are complete, accurate and in compliance with regulations. Complete admission and discharge CPMS, verifying information is accurate and complete. Provide assistance at external sites with the maintenance of client charts. Coordinate medical records retention and storage. Respond to records requests in accordance with state and federal regulations. Assist clients with document completion. Provide timely and accurate data entry into the electronic medical record. Maintain business forms and office machines in the clinic. Provide back up phone support for receptionist.

TO QUALIFY:
1. A high school diploma or GED is required. Additional relevant college coursework is desirable.
2. Two years of recent relevant clerical experience is required. Experience/education in medical records strongly preferred. Experience in a healthcare environment is desirable.
3. Must have proficiency with Windows and database applications.
4. Strong verbal communications skills are required. Bilingual Spanish/English ability is desirable.
5. The ability to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and Resourcefulness is essential.
6. Applicants must undergo a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen. Must not be on supervised parole or probation. If in recovery, must be at least 2 years clean and sober outside of a residential facility.
