OVERVIEW:
The IT Technician is a support position with the primary responsibility of ensuring the day-to-day tasks related to the support of the campus computers, the administrative and student networks and classrooms are successfully completed.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Install PCs, software, and peripheral equipment.
• Connect PCs to the network.
• Assist with PC, network configuration, and cabling.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of computer hard drive "images" for classrooms and quarter "break" tasks.
• Carry out the policies and procedures related to PC, network hardware and software installation and implementation, use, support, and security.
• Communicate with other departments to report and resolve system software, hardware, and operations problems.
• Install and test new and upgraded system software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether product will aid the user in performing their job.
• Enter, update, and complete information through daily updating of all issue tracking documents and the Help Desk software.
• Provide coverage for help desk position as required.
• Receive phone calls from users having problems using computer software and hardware or inquiring how to use specific software, such as statistical, graphics, database, printing, word processing, programming languages, e-mail, and operating systems.
• Answer question and solve problems by applying knowledge of computer software, hardware, and procedures.
• Call software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
• This position requires the employee to have an AAS degree.
• It is also preferred that the employee have an A+ or Network+ certification.
• A commitment to developing and delivering world-class service to the Heald user community.
• A commitment to the development and implementation of proactive/preventative measures.
• Excellent awareness of and ability to keep current on existing and emerging network technologies.
