DEPARTMENT: Facility Services
STATUS: Full Time with benefits

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt/Hourly
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience and licenses held; Range: $25.07/hr to $32.94/hr.


JOB SUMMARY and DESCRIPTION:
Operate, maintain and repair systems throughout the buildings related to HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. Maintain Fire Life safety equipment. Perform miscellaneous repairs. Assist with event preparations. Keep records of equipment operations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain the building Fire Life safety equipment
• Start equipment, check equipment for proper operation.
• Operate the Building Management System.
• Operate equipment related to the making of ice for hockey and other ice shows.
• Perform preventative maintenance on building HVAC equipment.
• Assist with event preparations and post-event needs as deemed necessary.
• Keep records of operations, temperatures, pressures, and fuel consumed, etc.
• Respond and take care of plumbing, electrical, temperature and other miscellaneous trouble calls.
• Operate and maintain mechanical equipment, such as chillers, air compressors, generators, motors, water and steam boilers.
• Provide utilities such as light, heat or power for buildings and industrial processes.
• Read meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals in order to verify operating conditions and record data, such as temperature of equipment, hours of operation, fuel consumed, temperature or pressure, water levels, analysis of flue gases, voltage load and generator balance.


QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Completion of the State of Oregon apprenticeship for operating engineers or equivalent. Accredited training is required.
• Four years experience in a large commercial facility.
• Possess and maintain required electrical and refrigeration licenses.
• Must be able to communicate in a professional manner; excellent interpersonal skills.
• Creative and proactive problem solving abilities.
• Cultivate positive work relationships with all employees.
• Be enthusiastic in meeting department tasks and uphold a strong work ethic.
• Ability to multi-task and consistently re-prioritize based on event and department needs.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

• Department Director/Manager/Supervisor: Communicate maintenance and event issues. Provide record keeping on reading and equipment operation.
• Event Manager/Event Staff: Support and respond to all Event Manager and event issues and needs.
• Contracted Services: Work closely with contractors to achieve proper repairs and timely project completions.

KEY MEASURES of SUCCESS:

• Operating within departmental budget.
• Operating buildings in a manner that reduces utility cost.
• Result orientated team player making all events and task top priority.
• Maintaining equipment in top condition.
• Ability to work with groups and alone.

KEY COMPETENCIES:
• Knowledge of computer DDC software and MS office program.
• Knowledge of buildings and event challenges.
• Knowledge of ice and associated equipment.
• Knowledge of mechanical principles.

ADDITIONAL:
• Completion of the state of Oregon apprenticeship for operating engineers or equivalent.
• Accredited training is required, plus four years experience in a large commercial facility.
• Must be prepared and able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
