We are a 4 piece rock band looking to record with the right person. Some influences include Foo Fighters, U2 and Pink Floyd. An alternative/modern rock band with dynamics and power. Our end goal is to record an EP with the right guidance at the helm. A Producer/Engineer that can understand our message and be able to take our energy from the stage and transfer that into an excellent quality recording. We've been recording demos in the garage on a computer and feel the time is right to go in and smash some songs out in a new environment that represent where we are at this time musically. More or less we are looking for another branch in the Organikk Warfare family tree. You can get more information on the band at organikkwarfare.com and myspace.com/organikkwarfare. If this sounds like an opportunity you can get behind please contact us with your info and someone will contact you back shortly thereafter. Thank you for your time.

Acoustic Pop Band Looking For DRUMMER! (Tigard)

We are 3 rad guys looking for a new drummer. We are all 21 years old and about to break into the pop music scene. We have a sound similar to John Mayer, Lifehouse, Switchfoot, Coldplay, Goo Goo Dolls, Kings of Leon, Snow Patrol, etc. If you are a talented drummer who enjoys bands like that and want to start a career in music please send us an email. We will be holding auditions upon consideration.

We have two managers who have worked with many national acts and have been helping us for 3+ years and looking to start shopping for record deals as early as 2010. The 3 of us are all very serious and talented and know we have the music and mindset to make it big and far. We have 25+ original songs all worthy of being a billboard 100 chart topper. We are looking for someone who is around the age of 21 and will have the dedication for this project. You must have your own gear and transportation and live near Tigard, OR.

If you think Travis Barker is the best drummer of our time, please disregard this add... Hes good but there are others out there.

We have our own studio 15 minutes away with a beautiful view overlooking the whole Portland area and all other necessary equipment needed. We just need the perfect drummer for this gig. So if your a good drummer who enjoys pop music and want to start a new successful career please send us an email with an mp3 or link to songs of your drumming and we will contact you and set up an audition.
For a preview of a couple acoustic demo tracks as well as our newly recorded single "Never Again" check out our profile.

Looking for Talented musicans/vocalists/rappers.

If you listen to today's music you'll notice a lot of hip hop acts are starting to sound more rock and rock acts are starting to sound more hip hop. What I'm trying to do is start a band that is just as much hip hop as it is rock. So I am looking for serious and talented musicans who are willing to take part in this experimental music adventure. Once formed we will record a demo and start playing shows as soon as we can. Keep in mind that you must be commited, you must be creative and able to improvise.

Here's an idea of what I am looking for...

Vocals (can be more than one) = I need a frontman, a leader. I need someone who can rap and/or who can sing with a decent vocal range but more importantly, someone who can sing with true emotion. I also hope that you can write decent lyrics. Last, you must have personality, you must be able to talk to the audience and you have to make the audience feel like their part of the show.
Key player = anyone who can play anysort of keys, keyboard, piano, organ, synth, melatron, whatever. If you can play like Thelonius Monk your in.
Lead Guitar player = hopefully influenced by the classic rock guitar styings of Harrison, Hendrix and Page.
Rythm Guiyar = an ideal one would have a reggae/surf stlye to your playing.
Bass = I think I have this one covered but I'm looking for someone who can FUNK it up. So if you can groove like Bootsy Collins your in.

So if you fit the description and are interested than email me with you phone number telling me what instrument(s) you play, how long you've played said instrument, how old you are and how you can contribute to the band outside of the music (can you get us any shows, have you performed before, do you know anyone in the music bussiness etc. etc.). Any submitions that include an example of your musical ability like a youtube video or myspace page will be put to the top of the list. If you can play an instrument that wasn't listed, that isn't drums, and think it would be good for our project than feel free to contact me. What I'm looking for over musical skill is someone who can come up with their own parts and can play by ear.

Need Violinist for Working Situation! (SW Portland)

We've been searching for the right violinist for a few months, but haven't been able to find you.. We need a pro level player that will compliment our project.

Here is a link to our EPK (Electronic Press Kit) that we are currently working on for booking. We have uploaded song clips from live rehearsals/auditions just for this ad. They are raw, no backing vocals and unpolished, but are just meant to give you an idea of what the vocalist/drummer and bassist are doing. Some songs have violin, from various auditions.
Click on the "AUDIO" button at the top of the page. http://www.sonicbids.com/epk/epk.aspx?epk_id=231055

We have gigs lined up, just need the Violinist. We will not be playing the usual mainstream club grind. Our situation is more valuable than that. We will be playing private/corporate parties, dinner clubs, wineries, events and very cool lounges, art galleries and more.

Prefer you to be 30 years of age on up. We wish you to be like minded and will fill in the missing parts, be they leads, synths or backing vocal lines all on a violin. You will play through effects to expand the sound. (delay, chorus, etc). We have the equipment to do this if you do not. Backing vocals is a plus. We will work with you on what we are looking for within the music, but you will have full reign to show your talents. You will be an equal part and can contribute in what ever fashion you wish in arrangements, song selection, etc. This is a great opportunity for you to play, make money and have a blast! Please understand, we are not looking for a fiddle player.

I offer custom arranging, transcription, and composition services for all instruments and styles. This includes such tasks as transcribing tunes, arrangements, or solos from recordings, creating lead sheets with or without lyrics, transposing existing music into a different key, arranging horn parts, or copying handwritten music into computer notation software, to give some examples.

I have been working as a professional pianist, composer, and arranger since 2006. I have studied arranging with Matt Lemmler, Darrell Grant, and Charley Gray, among others. My arrangements and compositions have been commissioned and performed by the Portland Jazz Orchestra, Oregon Jazz Orchestra, Orquesta Tipica Krebs, PDX Jazz Project, Reggie Houston, and others.

I have experience transcribing and arranging for jazz combos and large ensembles up to full big band in traditional or modern styles, Tango orchestras, as well as other styles and types of instrumentation including string and wind ensembles. My knowledge of theory and harmony as well as my long history of ear training can help make your chart preparation much easier!

You can hear and see examples at my site http://andrewoliver.net/music-arranging-services/

Here's what Tango musician Alex Krebs has to say: "Andrew Oliver's work that he has done for several of my bands is amazing. His transcriptions are accurate, his parts and scores are all clean and easy to read, his arrangements are clever and fitting to each instrument, and his compositions are insightful, emotional, and refreshingly new while staying true to the genre that he is writing for. On top of these skills Andrew is a gifted musician and a generous and kind human being."

Please contact me at andrew@andrewoliver.net or 503-453-9070 for a quote and more information. I look forward to working with you!

If you can play one of these instruments; trumpet, cornet, french horn, alto horn, tenor horn, trombone, baritone, euphonium or tuba we can use you, although we may ask you to shift to a different instrument to reflect 19th c. performance techniques. We have a particular need for alto and tenor range (trombone/baritone) players. All reliable and flexible brass players are welcome. Come-back players are fine, even encouraged. The 19th c. model allows some spots to hide non-virtuosic players.

We are an established group (20 years!) based in Stevenson WA.
This is for pros, journeymen, or beginners. A good teacher can help you get there faster.

Working professional drummer, former LA studio session guy, over 50 years experience, protege of jazz greats Shelly Manne, and Jake Hanna, presently leading a popular Latin jazz quartet, now accepting a few more students in my private practice.

This is a complete musical education including reading, basic theory, rudiments, fluidity, technique, groove, building a solo, dynamics, flow, congas, bongos, shakere, left foot clave, Latin styles (soca, songo, baiao, salsa, Afro-Cuban, samba, bossa, merenge, etc.), cross-sticking, musicality, shuffles (flat tire, Texas, linear, Bernard Purdy, Jeff Pocaro, John Bonham), Moeller Method and more.

I write lessons expressly for the individual student. No need to buy costly study guides or other books as I supply all materials. I use two quality drum kits so you can see and hear what we're talking about. Everything you need to learn drumming is here including stereo, computer with tons of lessons, printer, congas, gajate bracket, and most importantly, 50 years of drumming experience. I have also written a killer jazz tutorial guaranteed to teach you to play jazz.

The aforementioned Moeller Method is an approach to drumming using biomechanics and ergonomics to support smoother, injury-free playing. Your own body will teach you how to accomplish this. Your speed and power will increase as well. It is how Buddy Rich was able to do some of the amazing things he did, such as one-handed rolls and triplets.
Many references upon request.

Tired of watching that guitar you bought a while back collect dust? Maybe now is the time to pass along your underused musical equipment to someone in the community that loves music just as much as you.
My Voice Music is a nonprofit organization based in Portland Oregon providing youth with experiences in music that foster independence and social accountability. We work with local schools and non-profit agencies to provide free music programs in areas where needs are high but funding for services is low.
We rely heavily upon donations from the community, and this includes the majority of the equipment that we use. We will accept any piece of equipment that is in good working condition and requires only basic repairs. We have some immediate equipment needs that include the following: electric guitars, acoustic guitars, keyboards, drum sets, microphones, amplifiers, multi-effects pedals, microphone stands, keyboard stands, guitar stands, XLR cables, and ¼ cables. We are always in need of accessories like strings, drumsticks, straps, and cases.
We have partnered with Portland Music Company as a local drop off site! Equipment can be donated any day of the week, but if you would like a tax appraisal please ask for Doug Wednesday through Sunday.

Thank you for your contribution to My Voice Music and the music community of Portland.

Hi, my name is Adam. I am a drummer, pianist, and drum set/piano instructor currently playing and working in Portland.
I teach all levels of drum set lessons and beginner/intermediate levels of piano lessons. I am dedicated to fitting my lessons to the students needs. I am well versed in music theory and like to give students a well rounded lesson experience:)
I currently teach lessons through an organization based more heavily in the Lake Oswego, Tigard, Beaverton, and West Lynn areas. If you'd rather contract lessons through them you can visit http://www.chordination.us/index.htm

I began musical studies at age 4 and took lessons on piano and drum set through my early 20's. I studied jazz drumming in NY for several years at the Purchase College Jazz Conservatory before touring heavily on the east coast and then moving out here to continue playing.
I can travel to your home anywhere in the Portland metro area for lessons or we can meet at my home studio in North Portland.

During the school year, Forte Music School is on a semester system. The year is split into two 18-week semesters (These are for the Private Lessons): Fall (Sept-Feb) and Spring (Feb-Jun). Each semester includes the following:

30-minute lesson each week with a set time and teacher.

Additional 30 minutes before or after the lesson in our computer lab. (This is optional and flexible from week to week.)

Each student receives a solid well-rounded musical education. Technique, theory, composition, improvisation as well as basic skills.

Progress is well documented, culminating in a student portfolio discussed in a parent/teacher conference at the end of each semester.

All students utilize our recording equipment and technology in their lessons on a weekly basis. In addition to recording the songs they’re working on, the students are also adding drum beats, different sounds and arranging their music every step of the way.

Each student receives a CD of the music they’ve recorded, arranged and/or written throughout the semester.

In addition to the CD, the Forte Music School Blog is another way that students can share what they have learned.

All student files, sound recordings and progress is saved and stored so that there is always a full record of where each student started and how far they have come.

ADULT: Private lessons for adults are A-La-Carte. Meaning you can schedule at whatever time suits you best as long as our teachers are available then. There is no set length you have to be here and lessons are a half hour each.

NOTE: Books and other print materials are not included in the semester price and must be purchases separately.

TEST LESSONS: Try it out before you commit! Sign up for a half hour test lesson with the teacher of your choice. You must have your own instrument (unless you are a voice or piano student). The lesson will give you a feel for the teacher, and the chance to ask as many questions as you feel you need to. It will be just like having your first lesson. Scheduling times will be when the teacher has an open spot. If you wish to keep this time, day and teacher, please register right away.

Additional Classes and Features Available:

RECITALS: 3-5 recitals are offered each semester. They are limited in students so that each is no more than an hour. Locations outside of the main Forte space are selected with great acoustics and a grand piano, giving the students a special experience. A DVD of the performance is included in the price!

GROUP CLASSES: Group classes in Rock & Roll, Garage Band, Musical Theater and other fun themes are offered throughout the year to expand their education and give them a shot of inspiration. Go to www.experiencemcompany.com/ to read more on M-Company Musical Theater Classes and www.fortemusicschool.com/forte-elective-classes/ to read more on Forte’s other elective classes.

Calling All Musician Artists

I'm 27 years old, and but for a few days, I haven't touched my guitar for years. I started playing when I was about 15. And rather than mastering the instrument, I immediately jumped into writing songs. In one sense this is my weakness musically. I didn't spend more time than I had to practicing my skills. Because of that, I wouldn't consider myself much more than an amateur guitarist. Don't confuse "amateur" with "beginner". I am well acquainted with my instrument.

On the other hand, this has honed and strengthened my musical ability in another sense. I have developed a deep sensitivity to sound, and I can take deep breaths emotionally on that level. Since I first picked up the guitar, I have spent thousands of hours writing songs, and because of that, I have reached a point that my own sound was born. I have my own style that can be difficult for even more experienced guitarists to mimic. I know well enough to know this is what mature musicians and bands strive for. Instead of sounding like a conglomeration of so and so, this and that, they distance themselves from the mass and stand out as a band all their own.

In this respect I consider myself an artist. In fact that is what I am. I want to create, establish an artistic identity, and make a living doing so. And it comes down to that, making money. If a few artists set up and sit down and really focus in on creating something new, even just half a dozen songs could be toured on for years. That's what I want. This should be able to happen within a short amount of time with the right guys.

So, now that I've gotten that across, here are some of the bands whose sound has influenced me and what elements I incorporate into my writing. I have to say Nirvana right away. I don't listen much anymore, but Nirvana was the first band I really immersed myself in, so to not mention Kurt would be to leave out the simple, melodic foundation to which I was first introduced. TOOL, I have listened to since Aenima. In my opinion, every album is unique, but musically speaking, their sound is more complicated and crafted better with each album. I think everyone knows and or at least acknowledges the intelligence and creativity they bring to the music world. A Perfect Circle has a few great songs, but Maynard's Puscifer is also especially worth noting. Thrice, if you don't know them, is an amazing band of talented musicians and song writers. I've listened to them since Vheissu. Before then, not so much. There are a few songs from Saosin's last album as well that I've really liked, but with their last album I have been struck by awe.

So these are my great musical loves. I'm particular with what I really love, but I enjoy a lot more than just these. My iTunes has some Linkin Park, ISIS, Hans Zimmer (Gladiator and The Last Samurai soundtracks), Radiohead (particularly "The Bends" album), Sigur Ros, Smashing Pumpkins ("Adore" being my favorite album as whole), VAST (first album), Sunny Day Real Estate, and more, just to give you an idea of other bands that have more or less influenced me. I have also encountered some amazing songs written by Christians, which have an intensely happy, light, and beautiful sound, like an archangel blaring its trumpet.

To give you an idea of what genres I would fit into, these would be alternative/rock/psychedelic/progressive/experimental. To elaborate of what I have in mind, I'll sort of explain what emotional/intellectual state I want to achieve through music, what kind of affect I want to have on a crowd of people. It's my intent that the listeners feel like they have travelled after listening, have felt awe so much that they either weep and break out laughing, have contemplated life as a dream, adventure, and longing, and feel like they are being born as they listen for the first, second, third time to a juxtaposition of strong melodic structures, focused, mythic lyrics, and atmospheric soundscapes. People will feel like that have been to the movies because what they are merely hearing is evoking emotions they did not know were there, laying dormant deep beneath the tide, stirred by word and sound, unearthing visions so personal to them they will feel alone in a crowd, yet complete with the music as it fills their bodies.

I have the vision. I know what I want. I know who I am. But honestly, I can't do it alone. I need help. I need intelligent, sensitive guys who know how to listen, communicate, and strive for something as a team. Good bands are able not only to play their instruments, but talk about what it going on musically, how each member feels, so that a common conclusion can be reached by all. In other words, if you are serious about writing and playing music, you need to understand that communication is just as crucial and involved in great music making as is shutting up and letting the instruments play. You need to learn to talk freely about how you feel, what you like and what you don't like, and intelligent enough to articulate your thoughts and feelings, as well understand the other band members. Artists talk about what they are making. And in this world, it comes down to making money. There's no games about that. This is not just expressing yourself creatively and doing what you love, as wonderful as that is. If you seriously love it, you will want to be making money doing it. If that's the case, you have to understand that it must be approached professionally. You up for that? Can you handle it?

Now, I'm not going to say I'm looking for this or that in a musician, other than the typical line-up: guitarist, bassist, drummer, percussionist, and singers (I sing and play guitar). But you know your talents. You know what you can do, and what you dream of doing. Maybe all I'd ask is that the last few paragraphs resonated with you. If it didn't, that's cool--just means you're on another journey, and will hopefully find your skills and talents being used in a creative and meaningful way somewhere else. But I think I have given enough to provide a glimpse into what kind of sound and affect I am looking to make with other serious and talented musician artists.

If you decide to contact me, don't make me ask, tell me who you are and what your musical interests are, what instruments you can play (or if you're a music techie with keyboard, computer programs, or producing) and what you want to accomplish musically. What are you goals and dreams? Tell me about you and what matters to you, what kind of values you have, and why music is important to you. I look forward to it.

Hi everyone - apologies for starting this up and then losing sight of it in the midst of chaos.

But! Back! And if you're interested in participating in a songwriters/composers group that meets regularly (Sunday nights at 7:00 in NE PDX) then head over to http://grou.ps/conditor and sign up.

I'll start adding info over there as the days progress but as of now here's what this is all about.

There are groups for actors and poets and artists to meet and discuss the process of creating, but few groups for musical creators. This is a small gathering for songwriters and composers that are interested in talking about what they do and how they do it. Subjects can range from getting stuck to whether or not to add in strings to how to find ways to get work out into the world as we all keep each other awake, aware, and moving forward in our art.

hey - gonna try out the craigslist thing. been in pdx for around a year plus now and finally financially stable enough to get things going. was overseas and in alaska for years prior.

anyways, looking for collaborator(s) who are comfortable with their voice and/or instrument(s) and can commit to working on high quality songs & performaces. here's some me fucking around the past few weeks a bit with loops, sonar, etc. at my dummy myspace page. www.myspace/thewhip0 . these are very unpolished sketches with little or no song structure and in some cases improv. but are more or less pieces of the direction i'd like to go with more bells and whistles (literally and figuratively). i prefer putting that out there than other songs. try your best to ignore the horrible looping guide and vox quality/lyrics ...:0

i also like more folksy ballad stuff and loopless indie rock. prefer more poppy sound to discordant, more upbeat to sigur ros tempo.

please be able to communicate somewhat musically, hear harmonies, and be able to play along more or less by ear. i'd prefer to be a professional musician to my day job and I'd like to make that a reality if possible.
over 21 and under 40
not into "jammin" with rasta, metal, wastin' with pbr every night, or doing the suburban street gypsy thing.
ok. drop me an email with yer # if ya want to meet up... we'll go from there.

Wanted: thinking, feeling, raging BASS (Portland)

Hey. My name's Zach. I'm a 25 year old songwriter/composer, and I perform my own songs with piano/keys and voice. I'm looking to fill out the sound and mood of my songs, work on new material, and generally expand my/our musical horizons by adding bass to my live act. I'm wrapping up my first real album, an EP recorded at Hawthorne Bridge Recording Co. with Jordan Richter. I'm hoping the EP will help to get more/better gigs and I'm looking for collaborator(s) to make said gigs - and new material - as awesome as possible. I've recently started working with a drummer. Things are going really well, but it feels like something's missing, and I think bass is it!

My songs span a lot of different moods, textures, and feels, but they tend more toward intimate, melancholy, unsettling/comforting numbers. I enjoy and am influenced by lots of different kinds of music including Björk, Radiohead, Bach, Berg, Lucinda Williams, Elliott Smith, early Tori Amos, Neil Young, Marvin Gaye, Dionne Warwick, Kristeen Young, Grizzly Bear, Reich, Antony and the Johnsons, Prince, Chaka Khan, Jeff Buckley, Simeon Mobile Disco, plus lots of local Portland bands/musicians. I have a pretty open mind to new sounds and approaches, and I appreciate other musicians who do as well.

An understanding of music theory would be helpful, but isn't necessary. A willingness/ability to try singing supplemental vocals is also a big plus, but not a requirement. Most important is a desire to make awesome, fearless music with a sensitive, open-minded spirit.

Please check out some samples of my songs at myspace.com/zachzaitlin. The top 3 songs are from the upcoming EP. The rest are home-made. Let me know if you have any questions or want to talk.

Thanks,

Your instrument is an extension of who you are and how you chose to express yourself. I offer guitar, bass and general music theory lessons tailor made to each individual student. For every player out there is the potential for a new form of musical expression; why stifle this with a generalized one-size-fits-all approach? My rates are extremely competitive ($20 per hour), my hours highly flexible (night and weekend options available), my references numerous and genuine. Many years of successful teaching and musical experience; allow me to share some of this with you.

We have a full set of 12 originals, plus covers, and have shows booked. Our influences are pretty varied. I like Ween, our guitarist likes the Stones, and our singer listens to show tunes. Your influences don't matter as long as you're dedicated and tasteful. Even though we have a lot of songs written we're always up for new ideas.

Hello.

My name is Airto (pronounced "eye-ear-toe"). I recorded my band's album using a home studio with very inexpensive gear: Check it out here: www.myspace.com/andivelanded

After finishing the album I started researching like crazy on how I could improve myself. I believe I've since learned a great deal and I think I can really help aspiring artists. Simply put, I've learned that you can do a lot without a major budget by simply learning to use your gear to its limits.

I'm not claiming to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I feel I have skills that others are interested in learning. In fact, that is why I even started taking on students. I've been helping several friends for awhile and they have urged me to offer my services to others - so far so good! Over the past year I have mentored interns and taken on students with good success.

If you want to learn to record your own music with pro or consumer level gear then I can help. I can help you build a project studio (if you don't have one already) without spending a fortune and best of all I can teach you to use Pro Tools and Reason (I can help with other programs if needed). I am happy to meet for a free consultation to discuss how I can help.

If you want me to record or produce your band or project I'm available. I have focused on learning to record many styles of music over the past two years so I am confident that I can handle a wide variety of projects.

I also work with someone who makes beats and together we're producing other artists. If you're genre is rap or hip hop then we can certainly help you.

For all of my services I offer some guarantees:

1. You won't pay for anything you don't love. If I let you down then you don't pay a cent. My job is to get a good understanding of what you want from the start. If I properly understand the project then there is no excuse for me to fall short on results. So I'm taking that burden onto myself. You won't pay for anything you don't love.

2. I make myself available between lessons to help you when you need it. I genuinely love making music. I really love teaching others what I know and I also appreciate what it's like to go through the learning process. I will make myself available to you between lessons without added cost.

3. I am very reliable. If I make an agreement then it'll be done.

My goal is to be a respected producer and teacher. I plan to get there by demanding a high quality of performance from myself while providing a strong sense of customer service that I believe is lacking in the music business as a whole.

My costs are reasonable as I want to work within your budget. We can work on a meeting to meeting basis or even set a project price.

Please feel free to give me a call: 503.704.3444. We can plan a lesson right off the bat or we can meet so that you can see if I'm the right person for the job.

Respectfully,
Airto

Whether you are just getting started or looking to take your playing to the next level, I can help. I offer private guitar lessons tailored to your specific needs. In lessons we can cover everything from simple sing-a-longs to complex theory and technique. I insist on mastery before advancement i.e. I won't pile on new info until you are comfortable with the material we have covered so far and I always keep theory lessons relevant to your musical aspirations. In short, my goal is for you to achieve your goals.

I have been playing guitar for over 16 years and have extensive experience as a teacher as well as performer, recording engineer and composer. I have done commercial composition work for Intel, The University of Oregon, Coca-Cola and Burgerville among many others. This experience allows me to offer guidance on all aspects of musicianship.

At the moment I have 26 students that have been with me for over a year, some of those for over 2 years and several more that have started within the past year. This retention rate is not so common in the private music lesson world and I think illustrates my ability to create a meaningful teacher student relationship. This results not only in the student achieving his or her goals as a musician but in creating a lasting friendship that has a positive impact on both our lives. I love teaching, it's one of the things I do best.

The first lesson is free, please be in touch if you're interested.

Just relocated this project to Portland. I am intending to take this project all the way and feel pretty confident in its potential. I have some temporary players I am doing shows with, but would like to find more committed long term musicians. Already have a decent song catalog established and am writing more. Intially, we would work on some of the prestablished songs for doing shows (with lots of flexibility as far as playing what's already been written). And then be writing and collaborating new material on the side.

Looking for a bassist, drummer, guitarist, keyboard player, multi-instrumentalists, etc.

Influences include: RADIOHEAD, Arcade Fire, Bob Dylan, Beatles, Sigur Ros, Nirvana, Joy Division, TV on the Radio, Elliot Smith, Animal Collective, My Bloody Valentine, Pixies, Spoon, Bjork, classical music (baroque, classical, romantic, contemporary, etc), most of those coachella festival bands, etc.

Other than that...check out the first show in Portland next wednesday Nov 18 at Ash Street Saloon!

Well, she DID SAY she wanted to squeeze our balls.... So that cant be all bad,,heh,,.
Just because her concept of sound and expression differs from yours, it dosen't mean you know what's up and she don't. Maybe you only approve of what's on the radio, and if you haven't heard it 1000 times it isn't good in your opinion??

Know your history, the catholic church silenced all free thinking, whether music, or art for many hundreds of years, and in doing so, held back so much of the art, music and advancements in technology that we have today. (granted, I can't explain that concept in one sentence, so take two years of european history and get back to me)

Hi musicians; I have a bar and venue, and I want to provide food, drinks, an audience, atmosphere and pay you to play.
Drinks and food are on the house for everyone, audience included.
Unlike all other places in this hotbed of music called Portland,
I work it backwards; I pay musicians a fair wage for the hundreds
or thousands of hours they've spent honing their craft.
The way that I do that is that I don't accept a paycheck myself as the bar owner/proprietor.
I also contribute my lifesavings for food, wine and beer for the patrons, as well as the musicians.
If you'd like to invite as many of your musician friends as possible to attend my Open Bar Night,
I would appreciate it, and happily not pay my wait staff and cooks, as well as myself.
It's about time that musicians were appreciated here in music city,
so contact me regarding payment for your services.

I am a music photographer originally from Nashville, TN. My photos have been printed in the Tennesseean, The Tennessee Tribune, The Nashville Scene, and the cover of Whatzzz UP! Entertainment Guide. I'm looking to start off small here in Portland, and do some live shows at $50 a pop, plus if there's a cover for the show I would expect that covered for me and a guest. (putting 2 of us on guestlist works). I work digital so I would be able to upload and e-mail your photos to you the day after the show, or burn a cd of images if you'd rather, for a small additional fee of $5. Please feel free to contact me at the e-mail address above if interested. or call me at 615-554-7085. Check out more of my work at www.myspace.com/lierudesign.

i'm 26, a solo artist by nature (with my personal project), and am looking to do some stuff on the live spectrum again be it filling in for open slots at local venues or doing open mics. i'm not a typical solo performance artist really. i don't do guitar only. all of my work when approaching the live spectrum, is all pre-recorded materials that i spent hours into, with no outside involvement, so it's pure one-man stuff, and not hired musicians collaborating to give their ideas to someone who only uses their voice on the recordings.

my work is somewhat dynamic, though i could probably use a little live approach to not be as rusty with delivery. it'd also get me back into the swing of live performance, since i also am doing some work on the outside of my own project.

anything that's accessible by bus line is great. if i am to fill in for open slots or whatever be it, the earlier, the better. i don't like being stranded downtown after hours making phone calls to friends who i can rely on but would rather not.

a big thing too for me, that would be helpful... is knowing if any stereo output on a media player like an MP3 or a laptop even, can be perfectly output and not emulated with a stereo out. since the work is done in stereo, a mono output would throw me off, and also lessen the impact of the material written.

if any of this is doable, awesome. if not, i can still do a disc/mp3 print. can do 30 minutes or 45, your pick. don't got much to load on stage so i take less time to load and unload. even if i don't have a full band, i'm still good enough for an audience that's interested in new music, and usually fit great with rock and metal nights, sometimes goth or death metal, or electronics... it greatly depends, but usually a rock or metal night is perfect.

write me and i can supply all the pertinent information if you are interested. and do remember, the earlier i'm on, the better i can work with anything. i just don't want to show up and when i have to go at the latest, have to walk home for 3 hours or sleep in an alley for a few hours until i can go home, or harass people for a ride. i don't like creating inconveniences for people who do have lives and plans, i guess.
