The Oregon Coast Aquarium is looking for a Network Administrator with mad-ninja skills. Does the phrase WO/O/WG/B/WB/G/WB/B make you giggle? Do you fear no version of Windows Server? Are VLANs and VPNs child’s play? Ever wanted to live at the beach? Then send me your resume!

The network administrator will be responsible for our entire network infrastructure, from the fiber drop to the network jack at the desktop. This includes routers, firewalls, servers, and cabling and any other goodies you find in the middle.

Job requires intimate knowledge of the following:

Server 2003/2008
Exchange server
WSUS
Layer 3 switching, including VLANs
Cabling best practices
Backup systems (power and data)

Knowledge that would be helpful:

Open source projects
Linux (any flavor)
Desktop Authority
Spiceworks
Fiber optic networks
Microsoft Sharepoint
IIS 6/7
Anything else networky (sure - it's a word)

This position will be a 4 day a week position, with one weekend day required. Nights and long hours will also be required at times, but if you are a network admin, you know the life.

So what do you get for all this? Well, we will pay you (mid to upper 30s to start – we are a non-profit after all), medical, dental, optical, HSA account, 503.B matching.

After 6 months of employment, we will pay for you to become SCUBA certified. Oh, and most importantly, the person hired for this position will get kissed by a sea lion. Seriously – one big kiss from a sea lion.

How do I apply, you ask? Easy! Send your resume and cover letter to geeksrule@aquarium.org. Put Network Ninja in the subject line. We’ll do the rest.

Please no phone calls or visits. Not much into stalkers.
