We are seeking an experienced programmer with a coding background who is comfortable and experienced with coding PHP, HTML, MySQL, and Javascript. Programmer will help build out the Prep-U adaptive quizzing platform (www.prep-u.com).

The individual must be able to work collaboratively as part of a small but fast-growing team. Duties include producing new functionality for the platform (based on functional and technical specifications documentation) and assisting in importing new content into the system. This individual will report to the Product Manager to review programming priorities, requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and quality control.

This is a temporary position working 20-30 hours per week for 3-6 months.

Required Skills and Equipment:

• Excellent understanding of PHP, with good working knowledge of object oriented design principles.
• Good working knowledge of MySQL from a query writing perspective.
• Good working knowledge of cascading style sheets. Expert level not necessary, but knowledge of layers, floats, etc.
• Good working knowledge of Javascript and AJAX. AJAX experience can be from using a framework, however, knowledge of appropriate application of AJAX and issues that can arise is important.
• Experience with SQL preferred.
• Ability to work from home using your own computer and broadband connection desirable.
• Must be able to meet face to face from time-to-time.
• Ability to analyze, review and re-write programs to increase operating efficiency or to adapt programs to new requirements.
• Must be able to work independently and to structure your own time in productive ways.
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must possess the ability to ramp up efforts for short durations when required to meet a deadline.
• Must be able to work using a Macintosh, preferably a MacBook running Parallels (or some other virtualization software, like Sun VirtualBox or BootCamp) is highly preferred.

Educational Background and Experience Required:

• At least a bachelor's degree, preferably in CS or a related field
• 2-3 years of experience in programming and development
