This was purchased for my daughter by a very genereous family member for my daughters birthday three weeks ago. Between the dog, kids sports, work schedules, ect. this is just not a good pet for us. Not a bad pet just not for our family, lil thing even started growing on grumpy dad here. The Chinchilla is free, I would ask you consider $150.00 for the $400.00 spent on cage, toys, accesories, food, misc items...so we can find something better suited for and her birthday. Does not bite, very friendly, needs to be kept in doors, loves to ride around in a sweatshirt pocket. Hops to the name of Salto. Always ask for a rehoming fee. Never give your animal away for free. Free animals attract collectors, weirdos, and the financially unfit. If you cannot afford a $500 rehoming fee you cannot take care of an animal.

Please ignore the cranks that say "It just rubs me the wrong way when I see people wanting rehoming fees". Such people are worthless crack pots with nothing better to do than pass judgement on others. (Some feel entitled to free dogs because they have managed not to abuse their own dogs).

If the person wanting your animal thinks they are doing you "a favor" by taking the animal that is a sign that you need to find someone else, someone who wants your animal and will not think twice about a modest rehoming fee.

I find it ridiculous that people whine about a small rehoming fee (under $500) when supposedly the animal will be with them for 10 + years. It is really such a small amount for the companionship gained.

Adorable kitten pair for adoption - meet Calvin & Mazie! (Portland)

Calvin and Mazie are a delightful pair that were found at a home near one of our volunteers. They came from different litters but are very attached to each other and will not be separated. Both are very shy of new people, but once they know you they are the sweetest little loves!

Calvin was born around the end of April. He is quite the beautiful boy, with the most silky soft fur and very unusual coloring. The white of his fur is white as snow (kept so by his meticulous grooming), and then his colors go from reds to browns to grays. He also has the longest and most beautiful tail we have ever seen. Calvin's favorite past time is sitting next to you on the sofa and having his lovely coat brushed.

His second favorite is playing with his pal, Mazie. The two can frequently be heard chasing each other through the house or playing with their toy mice. Although they are an active pair, they would do best in an adult-only home.

Mazie was born around the end of May. She was very ill when she was found at about 6 weeks of age and has made an amazing recovery. Mazie is quite small for her age, which is probably due to her growth being stunted by her illness. She is now fully recovered but may be prone to having flare ups of a respiratory infection in the future. She's done very well so far though.

Despite all she has gone through, she has turned out to be quite an affectionate little gal. Although she does not care for being held, she absolutely adores being stroked, kissed and talked to. In fact any display of adoration is readily accepted by Mazie and she shows her affection in turn with her very loud purrs and frequent head butts.

Calvin and Mazie have been spayed and neutered, have tested negative for FIV and leukemia and are up-to-date on their shots. They are very bonded and will go to their new home together.

I am looking at getting a pitbull, a female. I have a rottweiler and a chihuahua. I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me the traits of a female pit. I also need to know if she will get along well with my male rotweiler, both are dominant breeds so that is a concern of mine when she gets older. My rott is very well trained and have spent alot of time and thousands of dollars in his training and I plan on doing the same for her. And maybe experience with one and there energy level. Had this guy a couple of months and I�m not sure what type of dog he is, maybe a St. Bernard/Aussie mix? He�s 92 lbs. and a bit aggressive. He is fine with cats.

I know this guy will be difficult to find a home for, but I believe he deserves a chance.

He came up to my dog and me while we were playing ball at the park and was very friendly. Soon came to find out he�s dog aggressive and he also barks and pulls towards people (this is improving a little) when we walk. Since he was nice to my dog I assumed he would be ok to take to the park again, but within 2 days of finding him he attacked 2 dogs. He hasn�t been off-leash since, but barks, growls and pulls hard, if we encounter other dogs.

He also barks at my son (15)every time my son comes out of his room when�s he�s home. No exaggeration, every time a door opens and my son comes through, he barks and growls. He has not bitten him, but it�s a little intimidating. I don�t think it�s a problem with males, as he�s just fine with other males.

I�d love to find him a farm, or a home with a yard and a person who�s able and willing to get him the training he needs. I think he�d be an awesome walking, or running companion, especially for a female who�d like him for safety.

He needs love, patience, understanding and training.

I need to approve and possibly visit potential homes.

African Soft-furred Rats Need New Home (Vancouver)

I have two young adult female African soft-furred rats, also called Natal multimammate rat/mouse, or praomys natalensis.
These girls are very cute and fun to watch, but like many ASFs here in the states they are not perfectly tame. The poor things are primarily bred for snake food, although for these two genetics works in their favour a bit because the person I got them from was selectively breeding the tamest ones. I hold them on a regular basis, but only because I am a devoted and tolerant fan of wildlife, especially all species of rat. If they feel threatened enough they will bite.
In my opinion they do make good little pets. It's sort of like having fish, or an ant farm. They are fascinating to watch, and incredibly cute! They are diggers; they love to excavate complex burrows in deep bedding, which is why I have them in an aquarium. Plus, they do not smell at all! I have to clean the cage maybe once a month, and then it's fun to bury a jar or something for them to hide in. The only reason I'd rather not keep them myself is because of a sudden change in my personal life. After some catastrophic happenings I am being forced to move into an RV and I will no longer have the space for them.
I absolutely do not want them to go for snake food! I am asking a $20 for them and the aquarium they're in, which has one of those store-bought wire mesh lids. However, if you can convince me that they will be cared for and not used for their more popular purpose of snake food, I am open to negotiation.

Our older dog won't accept our puppy so we feel it may be best if we found a different and better home situation for her rather than have any problems. The largest concern is finding a home that understands this breed specific and has been around and knows the alaskan husky. She has been around other dogs and kids and would be a great family dog especially if you wanted to sled or skijor or other types of pulling. She came from some of the best alaskan bloolines out there and is now 10 weeks of age, cream and white and had her shots given and dew claws taken care of.

Hi, my dog has been dragging her hind legs since last Wednesday, vet gave her an iv injection and pain meds and sent us home, said if she wasn't better by monday than to bring her in and have her put to sleep, I don't want her to suffer but I don't feel comfortable putting her to sleep. she is happy to see the kids come home from school and runs dragging her hind legs to get to them, we all love her sooooo much and don't want to lose her. Please if anyone has any suggestions I would very much appreciate it. Here is a little history. a child through on the couch she got up and looked fine that was at 8am and she went for a ride with me, played with the other dogs outside around 4pm, she laid in her favorite chair and when she wanted to go outside @ about 6pm she appeared to be walking a little odd and within 2 hours she was dragging her hind legs she didn't appear to have pain till the next morning and she seemed to be in alot of pain.

Handsome Orange Tabby Ready For New Home (SE Portland)

Vern is a handsome boy who is about 8-9 years old. I have been fostering/nursing Vern through a pretty serious injury that almost claimed his life. Almost. Vern is one tough (but tender) boy who made it pretty clear he wasn't ready to leave this world yet. He recovered better and sooner than the vets, or I, thought he would (those who are interested can ask for details).

Vern is now completely healed and ready for a new home. I will be getting his shots updated and a microchip implanted in him. He is already neutered, and has been tested FELV/FIV negative. He is a fabulous, big, cuddly orange tabby with gold eyes and really soft fur. He loves to take long naps, play on his catnip scratching pad and toy mice, and to cuddle with people.

Vern doesn't like dogs, nor does he like other male cats. He would be okay with a mellow female cat or two, as long as they are not aggressive, because he will not back down from a challenge - he's macho that way! He will also need a home where he can go in and out (once he settles in and gets his bearings). I have tried to make him an indoor-only cat but he has spent too many years as a happy, mostly outdoor cat and I haven't been able to convince him inside-only is okay. :)

It has been very tempting for me to keep Vern, since he's such a sweet cat - and I do mean sweet - but I have dogs and other male cats, and they really start to stress him out. Despite this, it has still been hard to accept he will go to a new home -- that is how wonderful he is. He is just a great boy and will make the right family very happy. I hope to hear from that family! I am asking for a $25 adoption fee that will be donated to a low-cost spay/neuter fund to help reduce pet overpopulation. Thanks for reading Vern's ad. Hello all!

I have one mini-doxie that needs a new home! But not just any home will do for this great dog; no, this awesome little yapper needs a GREAT home. He is five years old, neutered and a great companion. His health is impeccable and his coat is perfect!

So after all that, you�re probably asking yourself, �why would anyone want to put such a great pet on craigslist?� Well the answer is quite simple; I no longer have time to be a great owner to this great dog. I work full time, and my wife recently had to get a fulltime job just to put gas in the family sedan. As a result he has been crated from about 7 in the morning till 8:30 or later at night. Clearly this little guy deserves a family that can spend some time with him.

Now that you know the good and ugly of it, let me tell you the bad. As a result of what he doubtlessly views us ignoring him, he has decided that when he is out of his crate he can relieve himself anywhere he chooses. This was not a problem before my wife got her job, so I can only conclude he is trying to get attention.

Any prospective family will need to be interviewed at their home, to inspect fences and general conditions. Also this is a PET; so if you intend him harm, look else-where! Only mature ADULTs and Families will be considered! We don't really want to give him up, so we will take our time to find the right home for him. (i.e. Unless you are president of the SPCA, you will likely not take him home tonight.) Shelters and Rescues will not be considered (please do not waste my time or your�s, inquiries from shelters or rescues will not be read!), my wife and I need to meet the adoptive family before we give up a member of our own. I have a Lhasa Apso that needs someone with patience and understanding, preferably a household with another dog as he doesn't like to be left all alone. My ex-girlfriend left him with me a few years ago and my current girlfriend are moving in together and maybe hoping for a baby in the next year or so. That being said, the Lhasa is not the best type to have around children in general.

He's a very, very loving dog but has some communication issues, everything is a growl, if he's happy, it's a growl and tail wag, if he's grumpy, it's a growl and a drooping tail. I'm sure you get the picture of how interesting this makes working with him. He's very playful and loves his stuffy toys, loves bathing in the sun. His favorite thing of all is to sit in a window and people watch.

She comes when you call her, like a little puppy dog, and goes from playful to snuggly in seconds! What she really loves, though, is to cuddle up in a warm lap with her person. Bailey is a very affectionate girl who would love to be a princess in her own home.

Bailey would be okay with another mellow cat, though it will take her a few days to get used to him/her. A mellow dog should be okay too. Bailey would also be just fine as an only pet. I ask because when you go to "order" tickets, he requests that you mail a cashiers check or money order to him, after which point he will mail your tickets. This screams SCAM to me. I don't have a lot of money, I am currently going through a seperation and I have two kids. My puppy is up to date on all shots and well loved and taken care of and so would any dog I recieved. I don't want a female for breeding perposes and would even sign a spayed agreement. I just like female animals. I grew up with five brothers, I have had all the boys I can take, (except of course my son) I know that if you are reading this you may think to yourself why would I give when I could sell? My answer is simply a gift can change the lives of many people not just the people you give to. What goes around does come around, and I do believe there are good people out there who would do something like this, I would, so there must be others. Great dog! small to medium dog around 25 pounds she is full grown, not neutered. Mix is unknown looks like a miniature black lab. House trained. Fun loving! Friendly, loves to play. Multnomah County Animal Services has wonderful, stunning, friendly, and heart-stealing cats available for adoption at the Gresham PetSmart (a permanent adoption location for the shelter)!

Ariel is a positively lovely black, orange, and white tortoiseshell girl who is just a living doll. She is about 5-years-old and a voluptous 12.5 lbs. Ariel is great with children, and just loves to be with her people - so she'll be a good partner for watching tv, reading, or even playing board games! :) She is also quite active for having such a plump little body. So she's only HALF couch potato cat! :)

Though Ariel looks like a Scottish Fold (and it certainly sounds exotic!), her ears are actually the result of a long-term ear problem that the shelter vet staff treated successfully. Her ears will now always fold over, and her new family will simply need to keep an eye on her ears to make sure they stay clean (kind of like dogs with droopy ears - very easy!).

Ariel's adoption fee is $60, which includes: spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea and worm treatment, microchip, county license, health exam, FELV/FIV test (all cats are negative), and a free health exam certificate to participating vets.

We have two well behaved, neutered dogs ourselves, and they love having playmates over to visit.

They're a 6y beagle, and a 2 y black lab blue heeler mix, both friendly and laid back.

All will be loved and taken care of as if they're our own in a comfy condo.

Doggies will have ample running around room for regular potty breaks, with at least one good walk a day either in woods, doggy park, on the beach, or elsewhere.

Kitties will be pampered and given lots of nuggles and lap time, and allowed to sleep on our bed if that's what they're used to.
They're also welcome to come on walks with our two dogs if they want, we're all easy. :)
