You and your travel plan. In your reply, please say/list:

1. on the “subject” line, in that order: your preferred date and hour of departure, your destination, your name and phone numbers
2. your age group, student/line of work/retired, travel; if foreigner, country, etc.; link to blog simplifies things
3. size and number of baggage: 21”, 24”, large/small backpack, guitar, bike, etc.
4. you know where the pick-up point is; or, your preferred pick-up point, business sign and map link helpful; I don’t usually offer pick up in Metro Portland
5. where you would like to be dropped off, a map link helpful; I usually drop people off their door steps around Ashland
6. gas $ you would like to contribute
7. Any thing you may want to add, or questions you may want to ask; or suggestion to improve this ad and CL rideshare. Bonus points for the latter.
8. (optional) If you offer to drive, speed you prefer to drive; stick? Insured?

Pleasant and comfy ride: room for 2 or 3 clean riders; reasonable baggage room; bike-rack ready; 1-way always welcome

Gas contribution: $50 (ouch!) per person each way for trans-Oregon; however subtract $10 for a numbered (short and precise ok) reply as specified below, subtract another $15 for a complete and clear one that facilitates coordination (map-link preferred, unless you don’t have net access); shorter segment less; multiple riders or under-employed less, at my discretion. Most riders pay $25 or less. All of you are educated and seasoned, put your education to work!

Bike: $5 additional for a bike. If you are traveling with a bike, please put “bike” on the subject line and on the first line of your reply.

Vehicle: Non-smoking, well maintained, good tires, chains ready, clean all-wheel mini-SUV; color green; new SD/IPod/mp3 player with motivational and relationship material; or Dan Brown thrillers.

Driver: well-rested, safe, considerate and mature male; former professional driver; well-versed global and wilderness traveler; recent college classes taken: ancient arts; Christianity, Buddhism, digital imaging; conversational European languages, Windows Vista

Trip (Portland, OR-Ashland or reverse) usually completed in less than six hours. For daylight travel, short lunch/picnic (BYO) break at either 1-3, usually, or all (on a beautiful day, and all riders concurring) of the following:
• Fry’s Electronics in Wilsonville (the only non-scenic, but a treat for some small-town folks)
• Umpqua ice-cream at Rice Hill (I may buy yours)
• Historic Route 99 Wine Country around Roseburg
• Wolf Creek Inn (State Park) or Applegate Trail Wagon Museum & Cover Bridge
• Scenic Hwy 99 from Rogue River to Grants Pass; or Applegate Valley/River Jacksonville
• Crater Lake via Oakridge, Hwy 97 (late spring, summer and early fall; gas slightly higher)
• Something or place you want to see en route

Pick up and drop off points:

Pick up: Portland from SE & SW along I-205/I-5 only. For TriMet connections, please see below. Please provide map link. I empathize with car-less people and the weather for special requests.

Drop off (out-bound): usually well-lighted business near I-5/I-205/Hwy 99; Eugene DT/UO; door-to-door considered in small communities. Again, map link helps.

Return trip to Portland: Clackamas TownCenter Max Yellow Line or Commerce Circle at N. Wilsonville. I would consider your special request. Please double check for late-night and weekend reduced service or none at all.

It would be advisable to acquaint yourself with bus/connection info for your return trip.
