POSITION SUMMARY<br>

The Institute for Natural Resources at Oregon State University invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Coordinator for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Project. This project is funded for two years. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director. The purpose of this position is to serve as the Project Coordinator for the ARRA Integrated Fuels Prioritization Project, a joint project between the College of Forestry and the Institute for Natural Resources, for the U.S. Forest Service. The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing activities by COF and INR to successful project completion. Work involves overseeing project module work, developing contingency plans, and tracking overall project timelines and budget to ensure the quality and timeliness of all deliverables, and developing required project reporting. The Project Coordinator will coordinate and integrate the work of project module teams to ensure quality deliverables that are on-time and within budget. The Project Coordinator must communicate effectively to establish and convey performance/deliverables expectations for all project team members. Project Coordinator will also work with the project business lead and U.S. Forest Service administrative staff to ensure that all ARRA requirements are adhered to during the course of the project. The Project Coordinator must clearly understand the scope of work for the project, the U.S. Forest Service's expectations, and the resources required to successfully complete each module of the project and the overall project. The position is also responsible for taking on special projects at the discretion of the INR Director or Associate Director. <br>

This position is based in Corvallis, with frequent travel to Portland, and occasional travel to New Mexico and Arizona.  <br>

MINIMUM/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS<br>
<br>
-  Master's degree (in a natural resource-/environmental-related field such as environmental science, forestry, ecology, fisheries, geography, wildlife, natural resource conservation, or some other related field of study) with at least 5 years experience in program and project management and working for or with state, federal, or local natural resources/environmental management and research agencies and programs that affect Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. <br>

-  Must have understanding of and experience with Oregon natural resources and natural resources organizations and agencies, policies, and management. Experience working cooperatively with interdisciplinary and inter-institutional teams on high-visibility projects preferred. Demonstrated understanding of ways to use web-based technology to serve natural resources information is preferred. <br>

The Production Lead performs all work of the production staff but with added duties and responsibilities. The Lead provides the first level of supervision of production staff and immediate oversight of the production process. The Lead has the following duties and responsibilities:<br>

· Reviews assigned tasks and directs and coordinates the other production staff to complete the tasks on time. <br>

· The Lead performs the same work as the production staff and is closely involved in all the tasks to ensure they're being performed satisfactorily. <b>Education, Skills and Experience Required: </b><br>

· College degree or significant college coursework. Courses taken in the physical sciences is desirable.<br>

· Experience in food production, including food processing, restaurant management or supervision.<br>

· Leadership skills and the ability to supervise and promote teamwork.<br>

· Desire to learn and take on significant responsibilities.<br>

· Willingness to work any shift plus weekends.<br>

•	Operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of HPLC system<br>

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS<br>
The ideal candidate must have a B.S. degree in Chemistry or related field and have a minimum of 2 -3 years of analytical testing experience.  The candidate will posses an ability to quickly learn computer software programs and to multi-task with minimal supervision.  Must have experience with HPLC and SPE method validation.  A working knowledge of Thermo instrumentation and Chromquest/Excaliber software a significant plus.<br>

•Manage reporting and permitting processes for company operations using appropriate in-house and contract resources to ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. <br>
•Enforce safe practices daily with a visible presence in the manufacturing and office areas.  Lead incident investigations wherever needed; assure that fire control and other safety equipment is properly tested, inspected, posted and marked; assure that hazardous materials are handled, stored and disposed of appropriately.  <br>
•Coordinate the response to all federal and/or state regulatory agency inquiries or inspections (including OR-OSHA, OR-DEQ); represent the organization in the community and in industry safety groups and programs.<br>
•Track and provide insight into common issues, trends, problems, and opportunities to reduce losses and accident costs; maintain information and performance measurement systems to ensure that loss information is tracked and effectively communicated.<br>
•Provide synergy and an integrated effort for the implementation of an on-going safety improvement process that includes pre-injury loss prevention strategies; provide facility emergency response services as part of emergency coordinator team; lead the Safety Committee and monitor facility committees.<br>
•Develop and provide on-site classroom training and individual counseling on safety topics such as hazard communication, ergonomics, waste management, personal protective equipment, lifting/back safety, bonding & grounding, LOTO/Confined Space Entry/Hot Work/Safe Work permitting, hazard identification, accident prevention techniques, and accident reporting; coordinate training records; monitor/audit compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.<br>
•Provide guidance and direction to ensure the professional development of internal resources; manage external safety and property loss control resources to ensure that they provide a value-added change or enhancement to existing activities.<br>
•Manage existing safety and loss control budgets and provide input to assure that funds are available and effectively utilized for loss prevention activities.<br>
<br>
Requirements:<br>
•Requires a minimum of 5-10 years experience in safety management, property protection, and loss control at a management level.<br>
•Requires extensive knowledge of the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety and loss control programs.  Experience within an industrial manufacturing environment is essential, preferably in fine chemical production or related industries.<br>
•Ability to understand and interpret written material, including technical information, rules, regulations, agency rules, executive orders and laws; conduct tests and inspect working areas, machinery, equipment and working conditions for compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.<br>
•Requires the ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirator; meet physical demands of position such as walking, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, squatting, and crawling in tight spaces to safely access work sites.<br>
•Requires a sound knowledge of relevant federal regulations for a production facility: OSHA, EPA, NFPA, et al.  Familiarity with state of Oregon OSHA & DEQ would be preferred.  <br>

the daily activities of the laboratory staff providing leadership in a fast<br>
paced lab as well as ensure all USDA reporting and guidelines are<br>

years of relevant experience in the dairy/food industry.  Candidates must<br>

Responsibilities<br>
Insure COAs are completed for ingredients and ingredients are acceptable for<br>
use.<br>
Provide up-to-date finished product specs, lab sheets, and lab methods.<br>
Control of ingredients and finished products released to inventory<br>
management.<br>
1) Obtain samples from in process and packaging lines for inspection and<br>
testing<br>
2) Generate reports for QA compliance<br>
3) Perform chemical and bacteriological tests on raw, in process and<br>
packaged products<br>
4) Generating testing for processing department and standardizing when out<br>
of compliance<br>
5) Notifying management of issues in a timely manner<br>
6) Performing tests to keep lab in compliance with FDA / USDA dairy lab<br>
requirements<br>
7) Monthly and Annual Ag. and Markets split sample program<br>
8) Calibration of equipment according to the Master Lab Calibration list <br>
9) Experience with SQF by completing job tasks and maintaining the work area<br>
in a sanitary manner. <br>
Requirements:<br>
2-4 years Dairy experience in a processing plant. <br>
Minimum 4 year degree preferred in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or<br>
related.<br>
Documented experienced supervisor skills <br>
Strong verbal and communication skills (must be a people person).<br>
Strong detail and organizational skills.<br>
Must be team oriented.<br>
