Estimates production requirements (including equipment and crew), provides budget estimates, and evaluates copyright, clearance and release requirements. Meets with clients thru all phases of each project to obtain client input, to solve problems, and to keep projects on schedule.

2. Oversees the work of professional video production staff/crew, including editors, directors of photography/videography, videographers, sound recordists, grips and production assistants. Assigns projects and positions to crew members. Provides creative and technical guidance and direction and tracks hours worked. Guides and oversees the work of cooperative education students and student workers. When appropriate performs the work of editor, director of photography/videography, videographer, and sound recordist.

3. Directs video productions ranging from single-camera productions to multi-camera field and studio productions. This includes interacting with and guiding clients, subjects/talent and others through the production process. Operates and/or directs the operation of professional cameras, audio equipment, lighting equipment and related equipment to effectively record a variety of program materials. Recommends minor and/or major production changes to obtain the most appropriate and effective materials.

4. During post production, edits and/or directs the editing of recorded video, audio, and other materials to meet time, aesthetic, ethical and broadcast quality standards. Creates and/or guides the creation of graphics and soundtracks. Operates and/or oversees the operation of a variety of post production equipment including nonlinear computer-based editing systems, tape decks, tapeless devices, and video/audio interfaces. Operates and/or oversees the use of a variety of post production software applications for video editing, audio editing, DVD authoring, graphics creation, compositing, compressing, encoding/transcoding and captioning. Coordinates the archiving of video assets for short and long term storage and access.

5. Maintains and/or oversees the maintenance and organization of all video production equipment and post production equipment and software in the Media Production Lab. Researches, requests and implements new video production technologies.

6. In advance of video productions, coordinates production crew, production schedule and locations. Organizes all equipment required and tests cameras, tapeless media, microphones, lights, video monitors and related equipment to assure proper operation.

7. Oversees the preparation, duplication, and delivery of video and related materials for a variety of distribution channels including the internet, DVD, PCC's cable channel, and portable devices.

8. Independently and in coordination with other PCC media production staff, participates in workshops and one-on-one sessions to teach video production to staff, faculty and students.

9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Film/Video Production, Communications, Journalism, Television Production, Media Arts or related area. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.

Demonstrated experience producing educational or documentary videos in a collaborative environment is required which includes organizing, managing and scheduling production crews and planning and executing client projects within budget.

Successful applicants will be required to satisfactorily undergo and pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment.

This position is included in the bargaining agreement between Portland Community College and the Portland Community College Federation of Faculty/Academic Professional Employees. Greetings to all of the budding actors out there in the portland area.

We're putting together a documentary about my sister who
was killed by an Amtrak train last year while riding her bike
through boulevard park in bellingham, washington at one of the unprotected areas where the train track intersects with the biking/jogging trail.

the scene we�re shooting will involve the recreation of a christmas our famly spent together back in 1974.

(PLEASE NOTE;

* There is no script or lines to memorize as this will simply be part of a montage and the actors will be placing ornaments on the tree
* please feel free to have a responsible adult there to accompany the minor actors.

So here�s the deal..

if you�re interested here are some questions for you.

are you a male or female who looks like you're in your late 40's or a male or female (with dark hair) who looks like you're in your early to mid teens (regardless of your chronological age)?

do you or does someone you know have 1970s era clothing?

Do you have reliable transportation to get to the shoot which will be at a location in vancouver, washington which will take place Saturday, November 7 (anytime from noon to 11:00pm)

Are you reliable and will you be able to comit to getting to the shoot on time?

could you commit to being somewhat flexibile on the date of the shoot and if need be be available for 8 to 10 hours if necessary anytime from noon to up to 11:00 at night.

Are you in a position to know by midnight Thursday, November 5th if you�ll be available?

We hope to show the film at a few film festivals and are actually
in talks with the film screener for the Mary Pickford Cinema in
Bellingham and the Hollywood Theater once we have something to share with them for review. I�m even toying with the idea of entering the film in Sundance.

It goes without saying if we pick you, we'll list your
name in the credits if you want. I think this is going to be an
important project with some universal appeal which we can all be
proud of. When I say we, so far we have a professional
screenwriter/director, professional voice over actress,
award-winning los angeles based composer doing the score and will soon plan to involve a
professional los angeles based soundeffects editor and sound designer in the project.

in return for your participation we�ll pay each actor $30 for the shoot. We�ll also give you a copy of the finished movie when it�s completed around March of 2010, and we�ll also have catered food for the cast and crew on the date of the shoot.
