Ruby on Rails Developer, Portland, OR.

Do you want to be part of a fast-growing software company, one that is on the move – but really needs your unique talents? Not even two years old, New Relic has already reshaped its marketplace and is growing quickly. The company was started by a group of people who have created successful companies before, and are at it again.

You will be joining a unique team. People who succeed at New Relic have a sense of urgency, a lot of initiative, a commitment to customer success, an enthusiasm about pushing the edge … and a sense of humor. We provide interesting work, a great product, new things to learn, and the freedom to make the job work the way only you can do it. A strong work ethic and a drive to produce results are essential.

New Relic is looking to hire an experienced Ruby on Rails developer to join our fun and growing company. We're a small and scrappy start-up, so of course we're looking for someone with top-notch software design and coding skills who works well in a distributed team. And we're an agile organization, so we're looking for someone who has "agile" in their DNA: someone who does test driven development and continuous integration, not someone who just talks about it.

We are passionate - possibly even crazy - about application performance management. Our mission is making web applications run better, making internet users more productive, and making life easier for developers. And the marketplace has responded: we are growing rapidly and thus need another Ruby on Rails + Javascript + CSS front-end developer.

Our product is simple for our users, but complex behind the scenes, so the right candidate has experience designing, building, and deploying non-trivial web applications. We're looking for someone who understands multithreading, database contention, and object-oriented design as well as the experience of coding on both the browser (Javascript) and the server (Rails).

To be considered seriously, you will have:

•	Built and deployed commercial RoR applications (please provide your urls)
•	Strength in all the Rails fundamentals (routing, active record, migrations, ...)
•	A demonstrable knowledge of Javascript and CSS (again, urls)
•	Experience with user-centered interaction design

This position is targeted for our Portland, Oregon office but could be located in San Francisco for the right person. We offer competitive compensation (including pre-IPO stock options) and big-company benefits (medical, dental, etc), while maintaining the energy, agility and fun atmosphere of a start-up.

New Relic is most decidedly an equal opportunity employer. We seek applicants of diverse background and hire without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.

I have a beautiful houseboat on the North Portland Harbor of the Columbia River.
There is a detached tender house that makes a deluxe office. Well lit, clean and fairly new.
It has a bathroom, tub, shower and sink.
Million dollar views and lots of interior wood and exterior wildlife.
I would like to trade the space for 6 to 8 months, for a website build out.
If you are interested, upon receiving your info, I can send photos.
I will delete this ad when the right situation has been settled...

As to the project, I have owned a business for 15 years that provides Alcohol Server Permits to folks in the restaurant and bar industry.
These permits are required in order to work in Washington State. The in-person classes people attend are three hours.
The State has just approved the course to be online. I am very excited about this, I have wanted to put the class on-line for years!

Pretty much every bell and whistle will be needed.
Interactive forms of course.
I have three videos from which to harvest footage.
an on-line slide show, with the hardcopies, for graphics
and of course all the materials from the class, which is mainly a 20 page student handbook and about 10 visual aids.
There is also a test that must be taken on-line.
Payment (ecommerce) involved.
and a working knowledge of SEO is helpful.

Also I will need to send out a massive email from the site, or by some other means - to 7,000 plus addresses to announce the course being available on line

This is what there is to work from and toward.
Smooth functionality is more of a priority than design for this site.

I am thinking something like wordpress would be ideal, so that I can up-date it when necessary.
Or some other kind of CMS.

I have been told this is apporox a 40 - 60 hour project

Thanks,
