Golf Blog Writer (SE Portland)

I am launching a professional, authority golf blog and need a writer to help write high-quality product reviews. This is a very rare opportunity -- freelance golf blogging positions don't come up often!

The applicant must be a great writer and be an avid golfer. Readers will come to the site for an informed assessment of each product, but also to be entertained by the quality of the writing.

The writer will be given links to twenty products to review each week and will deliver product assessments via email to an editor. Each assessment will be approximately 200-300 words in length. No other tasks are required -- no need to craft a title, to generate HTML, etc.

This is a freelance position -- the writer can work from anywhere and is not expected to show up at an office at any time. Though I generally interact with writers via email, I am located in SE Portland and am available anytime for face-to-face training and/or assistance.

Senior Writer (freelance) (2)

We’re a P.R. and marketing firm in the Portland area looking for a committed freelance writer who would like to add a great partner to their list of clients. We’re looking for a serious writer who’s been freelancing, gets business and has the resume/clips to back it up.

About the Position:
The senior writer will interview clients and create exceptional P.R. and marketing vehicles based on those conversations.
The writer must be able to conduct interviews and write about any topic with potentially little or no understanding of the topic, particularly technology. The writer must be able to extract the information necessary from interviews to convey the essential messages and, more importantly, describe and sell clients’ products in a credible manner to discerning audiences in the target industry.

We’re looking for a very talented writer who understands P.R. and marketing and, above all, business.

Writers with journalism backgrounds are strongly preferred, but we welcome all resumes.

- Hours per week: flexible
- Location: telecommute or in the office (writer’s choice)
- Schedule: flexible; one to multiple projects a month
- Compensation: per project (approx. $500-$1,000+)

Qualifications:

- A bachelor's degree
- The ability to understand and expand on a wide range of complex or convoluted subjects
- The ability to engage clients and represent the firm well during all interactions
- The ability to meet firm deadlines
- The ability to do self-directed online research
- A professional phone disposition
- A strong, self-motivated work ethic
- Confidence
- Attention to detail
- A professional home-office environment (for telecommuters)
- A positive, easy-going attitude and sense of humor

How to Apply:

Please e-mail your resume, a simple cover letter and 1-3 of your best business-related writing samples developed for PR/marketing/journalism to the Craigslist address above. Sending links to your Website/bio/clips is certainly fine, too.

Please keep in mind that, unfortunately, we’ll only be responding to candidates who are the best overall match for the position.

Thank you for your time!

Content Director for B2B Marketing Agency (Downtown Portland)

IN SEARCH OF: CONTENT DIRECTOR
Seth Godin commented recently, ‘Content marketing is the only marketing left.’ We believe this, and we need a stellar Content Director who does too.

Babcock & Jenkins is a relationship marketing agency specialized in high-tech B2B communications. The core offerings of the agency include: direct/e-marketing, advertising, collateral, event promotions, identity, social media, interactive design, emerging technologies — anything (often everything) associated with relationship marketing. Our clients range from primarily high-tech businesses (Sun, HP, IBM, Salesforce.com, Epicor, Polycom) to random but related companies (Adify Media, DHL, Getty Images). And we’re adding new ones all the time.

Content strategy and development is a core service (asset development which is then promoted through marketing campaigns). We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating unique content experiences, has a dynamic personality and is comfortable presenting to clients, and is savvy about how and when different audiences engage with content. The role consists of three primary functions: 1) Content Strategy, 2) Content Development, and 3) Creative Leadership.

CONTENT STRATEGY
•	Perform audits of client content – whitepapers, webcasts, articles, online tools, video, Flash demos, etc.
•	Characterize each piece by audience, topic, type, etc.
•	Develop abstracts for publication of all content
•	Develop content calendars and content business rules to align with marketing campaigns
•	Identify content development needs / present recommendations to clients
•	Establish B2B social strategies that align to audience/marketing objectives
•	Work with copywriters to establish keywords, best SEO content practices for our sites
•	Make and keep relationships with third-party content providers/contract writers
•	Scope and negotiate third-party content when necessary

CONTENT DEVELOPMENT
•	Direct content development projects with a team of writers/designers/programmers
•	Serve as the assigned writer or community manager for select client projects

Hip Travel Writer Interns Wanted for Cool Web Site (Anywhere)

Seeking enthusiastic interns to work as Travel Writers for new "alt-travel" website "Where's Cool?" - http://www.wherescool.com

This is a good unpaid part-time telecommute internship position for someone working towards a career in travel writing. We're trying to expand our worldwide guide to low-budget, independent, underground and authentic stuff to do globally and are in need of writers to help make it happen. We are based in Los Angeles with contributors all over the world.

The site:
http://www.wherescool.com is "A budget travel community your mom probably wouldn't find useful." Its designed to help 18-35 yr old creative travelers post and find cheap, indie, and authentic stuff to do in cities around the world. Its like Yelp meets Tripadvisor for broke hipsters. If you have ever seen Gridskipper.com this is the kind of vibe we're going for.

The website is currently a "public alpha" meaning that it is still under construction, however publicly accessible so that new users can add things to the website. We have been inviting limited numbers of people to use the site and add quality content. In the next few months, we are going to launch a "Guides" feature for the site where interested users can create their own specialized travel guides to any city. We need your help in compiling some of these guides, and adding the relevant places and photos to the website before the feature launches.

Us:
Where's Cool? is a self-funded startup - meaning penniless - and powered by the passion of a global group of dedicated creative interns and volunteers.

The founder, Ron, is a web designer / programmer / manager who has been building web communities for 8 years as owner of Zenji Web Development LLC. Ron has worked on numerous large sites and has firsthand experience with content writing. He conceived, designed and built Where's Cool? by himself.

Our Content Editor, Whitney, is a US-expat writer living in Buenos Aires. She is helping to coordinate our writers and would be your point of contact.

You:
- Have either a degree or are working on a degree
- Have been to a few different cities and traveled on a shoestring budget
- Interested in off-beat / underground travel, culture (music, art, fashion etc), and nightlife
- Are a competent web-user, with a knowledge of blogging, social networks (MySpace, Facebook, etc) and other social media
- Have a love of writing
- Big plus if you have spent time using Yelp or Tripadvisor

No prior experience or specialized skills are required.

Responsibilities:

- Collect, research and add "spots" and neighborhoods that would be relevant to the site
- Write and post creative reviews for places that you have selected
- Post photos of places you have selected to review
- Compile "Guides", consisting of a themed collection of places in a city and editorial for each, and add them to the site when the feature becomes available

Details:
We can adjust to any schedule or duration you require as this is a very self-directed program. We are located in Los Angeles, CA so working from home (aka telecommuting) is required.

This internship is unpaid. Writers who contribute regularly under this internship program will have priority selection for expanded positions and paid roles as they become available.

For consideration, please email your resume and contact info along with a writing sample. If you have a profile on Yelp or any travel-related site please indicate it.

Thanks!
