General Position Summary:
This position will part of the Retail Inventory Control team, responsible for tracking and valuing inventory in all of Columbia Sportswear retail stores and outlets. Will be responsible for the execution of the retail policy and process design, implementation, and store assistance. This position will understand the entire inventory cycle. This position will ensure that inventory transactions are in compliance with GAAP and internal policy. This position will be responsible for analyzing inventory flows, reconciling balances and providing regular reports to management. This position will have frequent contact with field staff, logistical staff as well as retail management. This position will work closely with the corporate accounting team, store operations and will report to the Retail Inventory Control Manager.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
• Reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger, including analysis and explanation of monthly variances.
• Prepare support for inventory related reserves including analysis of variances.
• Perform monthly calculation and analysis of inventory metrics.
• Assist with cooordinating annual physical inventory audit at all retail outlet stores.
• Maintaining accurate perpetual inventory records & transactions records with current ERP system & sub-systems.
• Research errors and determine fixes for the store inventory records including making adjustments to inventory.
• Monitor shipments to the stores for proper receiving and PO maintance of closed and partially received orders.
• Work with other team members in Information Systems (IS) to develop reports, error clearing, and general system process flow.
• Track returns, damaged goods, donations, give aways, etc.
• Assist Buyers with on hand inventory balance issues that effect replenishment.
• Monitor group email inbox.
Specific Job Skills:
Attention to detail and track record of timely execution
Strong excel skills, including use of pivot tables a large data navagation
Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
Strong knowledge of accounting and U.S. GAAP
JD Edwards and Cognos experience a plus
Ability to effectively communicate across multiple functions to achieve results
Education and/or Experience:
BA/BS in Accounting; minimum 5 years accounting experience in a large corporate environment, including direct inventory responsibilities, and retail inventory a plus.
