POSITION: Contract program development related to VoIP and IPTV. Position is with a venture backed Technology startup Company.
Supervisor: Terry Martin
Purpose: Assist VP of Network Operations with program development.
Location: Wilsonville, Oregon
Working Conditions: Exact project description, time and remuneration will be discussed with qualified candidates.
Programming Experience and skills for a successful candidate:
• Shell scripting (bash, etc.)
• Working Linux knowledge - Redhat based distros such as CentOS, Fedora, RHEL at a level of at least a junior system administrator.
• Networking
o General understanding of network protocols and how they fit together such as Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP
o Working knowledge of commonly used top layer protocols such as FTP, HTTP, SSH, SNMP, telnet
o pcap utilities (tcpdump, tshark)
• Able to write first stage libpcap filters and second stage tshark/Wireshark filters
• Working knowledge of multicast
o How multicast streams differ from standard unicast TCP/UDP data
o The different control message types
• Experience with automating tasks via a scripting language and a telnet library
Experience and background in the following is highly desired:
• VoIP - General understanding of the concepts of VoIP, Call setup/teardown, Audio streams, Audio codecs.
• IPTV
• Telcos
