Our not for profit adult mental health agency is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full time Billing Specialist position based in Tigard. Full job details and requirements are listed below. Medical, Dental, 401K, life insurance and paid time off is available after 90 days of employment. Responsibilities of the job:
Enter, maintain and update client insurance information
Enter, maintain and update insurance authorizations where applicable
Coordinate authorizations and documentation
Verify and document client insurance rosters
Review charges for accuracy/completeness before submission
Submit billing batches per department schedule using 837 EDI
Submit billing using paper forms where applicable
Process payment information when received using 835 EDI Processor
Follow up of denied claims immediately
Document reason for denied claims immediately
Document reason for any write-offs or adjustments
Waterfall charges and resubmit charges immediately where applicable
Reconcile payments, charges, write-offs and adjustments
Review client and insurance data grids for balances, transactions, etc.
Present outstanding charges and action plan at weekly meeting
Provide financial information as requested
Maintain rates, codes and other administrative areas of database
Use all insurance web sites to keep informed (Verity, DMAP, Medicare, Medicaid, Care Oregon, etc) and sign up for alerts/news letters
Communicate billing issues to supervisor
Follow up on billing issues until resolved
Keep current with internal/external changes
Maintain/establish charge/payment process with each insurance
Develop relationships with insurance staff for each insurance
Inform, answer questions, and interact with clients and staff
Complete all other tasks as required

Understanding of Medicare/Medicaid Insurance

Understanding of medical records

Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Coursework in medical coding/billing preferred.

Experience/Qualifications:
Minimum one year working with medical billing and medical billing software, and/or educational background in medical coding and billing required.
