Peacocks are domestic but can go feral. Living in northern NY, I've seen a peahen with a flock of wild turkeys before. We used to have peacocks and on two different occasions, and living in different places we had peacocks just show up, once they came, visited with our peacocks, who were penned and left and we never saw them again... the other time they stayed and lived with our free roaming peacocks. Peacocks can be penned up for a few months and then let out and they will stay around unless they are disturbed by something, dogs are probably the most likely thing to do it...
if you dont want them on your yard... make it so they dont want to be there, make noise when they are around, squirt gun or hose wouldn't hurt them, chase them out
