Our Peer Counselors undergo 40 hours of initial training to address topics that affect the lives of young people: suicide, alcohol & drug use, depression, relationships and dating violence, family issues, sexuality, and more. . . This initial orientation only happens 3 times a year and our fall training is coming up SOON!
All volunteers are required to:
Complete an application and have an interview
Attend all training dates (listed below)
Commit to one 3-hour shift every week for at least 6 months

Over the years, MacKay Creek has been overrun with blackberry and reed canary grass degrading the overall health of the watershed. As part of this opportunity, volunteers will work to restore a functioning ash wetland on site by planting natives and wetland vegetation, which will improve water quality and decrease erosion. Project partners include Metro, Clean Water Services and Summit Foods.

Psychology researchers at the State University of New York at Stony Brook are looking for people whose romantic relationship (cohabiting or married) ended a year or more ago, to complete a short survey.
The Relationship Breakup Survey is:
-- VOLUNTARY and ANONYMOUS
-- Completed all ONLINE
-- BRIEF (takes about 25 - 30 min to complete)
-- A chance to receive EXTENSIVE free INDIVIDUAL FEEDBACK on:
- your past relationship satisfaction
- your comfort with emotional intimacy
- your sense that others will be there for you
- how optimistic you are
- how open you are to new experiences
- your personal growth, following this breakup, in 5 areas (Personal Strength, New Possibilities, Relating to Others, Appreciation of Life, and Spiritual Change)
- if applicable, your current relationship satisfaction
If you have started taking an SSRI (see list below for what is an SSRI) within the last two weeks, are having problems in your sex life, are over 18 and currently involved in a sexually active relationship, you qualify for our research study. We are looking at sexual functioning in people taking SSRIs. If you participate, you will be asked to read some information and fill out three surveys about your sexual functioning online on a secure, confidential website.
The study offers you an opportunity to receive information about your anti-depressant/ anti-anxiety medication as well as a chance to win a cash prize of $50. This study can be done online, at your own convenience in your own home.

We created the book GIG: Americans Talk About Their Jobs, praised reviewed by USA Today, US Weekly, and called “an addictive read” by the Harvard Business Review.
Now we want to make a book like that about love.
Not every story has to be dramatic. We are also interested in stories of people who overcame problems, people with funny stories, people who have lost or proven their love in unusual ways, and people who have enjoyed or suffered from quiet, slow problems instead of loud, “reality show” problems.
