This is a 1930 Royal P typewriter verified by serial number. It has 10 characters per inch making it pica. This 196 year old typewriter body is in great condition. The platen unfortunately has a large crack. You can do some light typing on it but it needs to be recovered. Using a machine with a cracked platen is generally fine for short-term, light use, but it should be addressed if you plan to use it frequently. If using it use a thick, sheet of paper or plastic behind your paper to cushion the impact. The handle has been replaced as these usually are broken. A great typewriter to add to your collection.
The typewriter has been serviced and a new quality ribbon has been installed. We do not pretend to be experts, just enthusiasts for typewriters. We collect typewriters and sell some of them.
Our typewriter philosophy is that we want you to go home with a typewriter that feels right to you when using it. Every typewriter has its own feel when typing so we do not ship. We want our customers to try them out and choose the correct one for their needs.
