RAINIER is considered one of the best varieties for home gardens. The beautiful fruit is high in sugar but has a “pleasantly tart” cherry taste. It is richly flavored, firm yet juicy - delicious eaten freshly picked as it ripens from late June to mid-July. Prunus avium ‘Rainier’ USDA Zones 5-8
BING is large & juicy, with a more intense flavor. The fruit usually ripens in July and is exceptional when enjoyed fresh, canned, or in desserts. A local favorite, Bing Cherry originated nearby – in Milwaukie, Oregon – in the late 19th century. For over 100 years Bing has proven well-adapted to our local conditions. Prunus avium “Bing’ USDA Zones 5-8
BING AND RAINIER REQUIRE CROSS-POLLINATION – Plant both, or a combo cherry tree in the same vicinity
COMBO CHERRY TREES have several types so you harvest longer and have more variety of deliciousness!
Our combo cherry trees include 3 or 4 of these: SWEETHEART Developed in Canada for large, bright red sweet, heart-shaped cherries Ripens in August. BLACK TARTARIAN Deep red heritage cherry concentrated berry-like flavor Ripens in June. BING Sweet cherry, smooth glossy dark red semi-thin skin Ripens July. LAPINS Large, dark, very sweet fruit, similar to Bing, ripening about 10 days later Ripens in July. MONTMORENCY The most popular tart cherry for pies and preserves Ripens late June.
