FIG TREES – L.S.U. PURPLE figs are very sweet with a juicy and mild caramel-like taste sometimes compared to maple-sugar candy.  LSU Fig trees thrive in the Pacific Northwest and bear prolific crops when mature.  They are self-fertile, low maintenance, and stay about 8 to 10 feet tall.  The skin of this fig is deep brownish/purple and the interior of the fruit is light red.  These seedless figs ripen August to October. Enjoy them freshly picked, or slice into yogurt, ice cream or fruit salad. They have an even richer flavor and become sweeter when dried, making a healthy winter-time snack.  Ficus carica ‘LSU Purple’ USDA Zones 7-10
