RED SUNSET MAPLE now about 10 ft high
Though it has glossy green leaves in summer, Red Sunset Maple is named for its spectacular fall foliage of reds, rusts and orange lasting for several weeks. In spring clusters of small red flowers provide an early nectar source for pollinators. In winter Red Sunset Maple continues to be attractive with reddish-hued branches and twigs. Developed in the 1940s nearby in Boring, Oregon, it is ideal for local conditions. The tree does well in about any soil, in full sun to part shade. Red Sunset grows quickly, getting about 25 – 30 feet tall with a tidy, rounded shape. Acer rubrum ‘Franks Red’ USDA Zones 4 - 8
