Soil Room Tech (day and night shift) (Aurora)

compensation: $16.50-$18.50 DEO + shift differential

We are looking for a Soil Room Technician that will coordinate day-to-day operations of the soil room to deliver optimal soil quantity and quality product to the transplanting lines. Additionally this position works with the Maintenance Manager (Team) to provide daily TPM checks on Soil Mixing Line, JCB Loader and other relevant equipment.

Keep soil component bins stocked so that transplanting line has a continuous supply.
Work closely with the Transplanting Supervisor to understand daily transplant schedule and soil requirements.
Responsible for fulfilling lubrication requirements for equipment, as well as general housekeeping duties on the equipment daily. Conduct daily pre-shift TPM check on the Soil Mixing Line, JCB Loader and other soil handling equipment.
Notify Maintenance Department of any equipment repairs required or issues via the completion of Maintenance Request.
Responsible for the proper functioning of the soil component bins and transport belts throughout the day.
Assist Head Grower with calibrating rates, programming recipes and tracking pH of soil mixes.
Work closely with Production Supervisor, Picas Coordinator and Head Grower to order soil components and amendments on time.
Perform soil component inventory counts and make Inventory Count adjustments in Picas.
Ensure that soil components get delivered in the right area and help unload soil/peat moss trucks.
Keep the soil room and container recycling area clean, organized and secured.
Assist with counting hard goods inventory when needed.
Work with Receiver to keep storage areas clean and organized.
Provide backup for peak season transplanting and forklift operating.
Train back up soil room operators.

Able to Read and Write.
Bi-lingual would be preferred. (Spanish/English)
Strong organizational skills.
Good communication skills both written and verbal.
Basic math and computer skills.
Qualify to operate forklift, Bobcat, loader.
Able to work independently.
Strong mechanical aptitude.


Work long hours as needed during busy season, including weekends.
Continuously walk, stand, bend, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
Lift up to 50 pounds in an environment that is often hot.
