This is a pretty astounding playing and sounding instrument. I put a fresh set of Stainless Steel Flat Wounds on to replace the old ones and it just SINGS. This version is the original design and THIS BASS IS PERFECT. As you can see from the pics, the quilting on these is pretty astounding. ALL Acoustic basses have at least one of these 2 problems. 1. The FRET MARKERS on the side of the neck are in the WRONG PLACE. The manufacturers leave the markers where they would be if it were Fretted. This makes most of them difficult to know where you’re playing so you can only rely on listening for tuning. Yes, that works, but you need a little help. Michael Kelly recognized this and put the corrected fret dots ON the fret board. Unfortunately, the Low B is so big, you can’t see them. I had a Luthier add corrected dots and whited out the ones in the wrong place. This makes it MUCH easier to navigate. The 2nd problem acoustic basses universally have is there is NOWHERE to rest your thumb while you play. If you are relying on resting your forearm on the rear bout, your arm goes numb very quickly. To solve this, I got installed a Maple Thumb Rest in the sweet spot for most 34” scale basses. Now you can play this for hours and hours without fatigue. YES, ITS MODIFIED. Shoot me. It made a gorgeous bass playable. Alas, I don’t play it enough to justify having it so it has to go down the road. Comes with the Original Factory Case and it is also nearly perfect. I am not into trades as I am thinning the herd. IF THE ADS UP, ITS STILL FOR SALE. I will not respond to that question.
