Blacksmithing Apprentice Looking for Unwanted Practice Scrap Metal (Washougal)

I recently began learning blacksmithing and I need scrap metal to practice on before I spend any money on high quality steel.

Currently working on a propane forge built from scrap, and when that's finished, I will need steel types from the following list.

If anyone has any such scrap steel they would be willing to give away for free, it would be greatly appreciated.

Steel that is already close to the shape of swords, knives, tools, throwing weapons, spear tips, etc., are highly preferred.

Avoid any galvanized or painted steels, as they produce toxic fumes.

Cast iron is least preferred, but I will take anything.

Perhaps I can return the favor when I am more skilled with a handmade knife or custom request.

Thank you for any help or information on where to find free or cheap practice metal.

Scrap Metal List:

1. High-Carbon Steel (e.g., 1095, 1084)

Common Sources: Old saw blades, leaf springs, flat bar stock, worn-out lawn mower blades

2. Tool Steel (e.g., D2, O1)

Common Sources: Old drill bits, worn chisels, broken tools, flat files

3. Alloy Steel (e.g., 4140, 4130)

Common Sources: Scrap from heavy equipment, architectural steel beams, old bike frames

4. Spring Steel (e.g., 5160, 9254)

Common Sources: Leaf springs from trucks, trailer axles, existing springs from appliances

5. Stainless Steel (e.g., 440C, 304)

Common Sources: Old kitchen knives, stainless steel countertops, industrial trays
