METEORITE ROCKS FROM THE SKY!
The Cascadia Meteorite Laboratory at Portland State University's Department of Geology
is actively engaged in research and public outreach. Dick Pugh,
field scientist for Cascadia Meteorite Laboratory at PSU, will be at
our annual show at the Castle Rock Fairgrounds on September 21st and
22nd, from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. He
would love to look at any rock that you think may be a meteorite and the
more kids he can engage the better! There is no charge for him to identify
a meteorite. There have only been 6 meteorites found in the whole State of
Washington and one of them was from someone bringing a rock into our
show several years ago! It is estimated that there is one meteorite in every
square mile if you can find it! He will bring a sampling of his meteorite
collection for people to look at and pick up.
