This is my Con 8D double French horn manufactured in the late 1990s. This was a good time of manufacturer as it was built in Eastlake ohio. This was a "special edition" with the name C. G. Con in cursive written on the horn close to the pinky holder. This was to commemorate the classic Elkhorn era of con 8d's. This is a well-made horn with EXCELLENT compression! It has been professionally inspected by a horn Tech who cleaned and adjusted the valves plus put new strings on and made sure the horn is good to go with no surprises in its future. The valves work quickly and quietly with precision. All slides work easily with horn maintained and lubricated regularly. The horn comes with a Yamaha 30C4 mouthpiece This horn has two small dimples towards the top in plus a little underneath the horn. Also there is some light scuffing underneath the horn with some missing finish where the hand sits inside the bell. But this is to be expected on a quality holder horn. There are some light scratches here and there which do not detract from the beauty of the horn. In fact if a quality built horn like this one is well maintained it can and should last a lifetime. All in all, This is a horn that has been inspected by professionals to be VERY sound and capable of playing well into the future. Thanks!
