It is hard to find a PERFICT combination for those up to 75+ POUND fish. PENN and Darwa did it with their Penn (Reel No. 49) and Darwa (Rod SL-33-HRG), Deep Sea Fishing Mariner Series, combination, with Wire Line and capable of handling 30 Oz 's of weight which they developed some time before 1941 but marketed in 1941 and sold modern versions until 2006. $100.00 CASH. Reel presently has Wire Line, usable because of the Darwa Rod: Penn Reel (No. 49) has a Gear 5:1 ratio, 2 Bearings, Line capacity (mono): 300 Tards at 30 pounds and approximate 200 Yards at 60 pounds (can take up to 100 pounds Braided), Anti-reverse lever, Star drag (can be up graded to the HT-100 star drag).

ROD will handle fish 75+ Pounds with the Penn #49 REEL: The Darwa-Valine SL-33-HRG (now goes by a different serial number) is a one-piece heavy-duty saltwater offshore trolling or bottom fishing Rod. Rod is 6 feet 8 inches long, 30-60 Pound Mono line (75 to 100 Pound Braded Line), medium action with two roller wheel glides for wire line and weight up to 30oz.
