I have the AKiTiO Node Titan external graphics case that has a 650W power supply. Inside is the AMD Sapphire Nitro RX 6600 XT. Connection is Thunderbolt 3 (or 4 or 5, which are backwards compatible).
This thing saved my bacon for a short time. I really couldn't afford a full upgrade at the time, so I used this briefly to extend the life of my Intel based MacBook Pro. For that 6 months or so I was able to do high level video and photo editing on a pretty low level MacBook.
You will, of course, need to do your own research. But I know this will NOT help you with Apple Silicon chip computers. At least not natively. But Intel based Macs and virtually anything in the Windows world, as long as you have a Thunderbolt connection or purchase a PCI solution to give you that option.
I used this while traveling to be able to edit in a hotel room as if I had my Mac Studio along with me. It honestly transforms a laptop into a gfx intensive worstation. It will even charge your laptop through the Thunderbolt port with 85W. I know these are also often used by gamers, getting so much more out of a laptop in particular. But it's also awesome for dividing tasks even on a desktop, allowing for an additional monitor at high res.
The reality is, if you're reading this you probably already know what it is and what it does. And you can see it's a good deal as well.
Original boxes are available. Comes with appropriate power cord and Thunderbolt 3 cable.
