For over a hundred years, Calbag Metals has pursued excellence in all aspects of metal recycling. The material we handled a century ago looks very different than the material we handle today. Our ability to handle material in this century will depend on our innovation and ability to continue the process of adaptation and change.
Calbag Metals seeks to assemble a diverse team of interns to observe current recycling operations with the goal of providing an outside perspective of our material handling processes with respect to efficiency and thoroughness. This is a great opportunity for students of just about any discipline with an interest in applying their field of study to Industry.
Interns will work under the direction of our Environmental Compliance Director, who will mentor them through the process of developing a project plan, scheduling activities, developing metrics, and producing a deliverable, while at the same time being careful not to influence their observations. Interns shall receive training related to: 1) project planning; 2) operations management and metrics; and 3) industrial safety and environmental programs. Interns will be exposed to: 1) the scrap metal and recycling industry; 2) industrial processes and machinery; and 3) business operations. Interns are expected to provide: 1) technical skills from their area of study; 2) excellent observation and note-taking skills; and 3) fresh eyes and an inquisitive, creative mind.
This is a part-time, paid internship requiring 16-24 hrs./wk. over 8 weeks.
● Pursuing or possessing a degree in any field that involves the development of conclusions based upon observations and data (engineering, core sciences, anthropology, psychology, business, forensics)
