I am a Spiritual Life Coach named Devi Nina Bingham, and I've been coaching and teaching meditation for 14 years. You can see my profile here: www.ninabingham.blogspot.com
I'd like to gather a group of folks interested in learning Vedic chanting, for the purpose of stress reduction, relaxation and healing. I will need a minimum of 5 people committed to the FREE weekly sessions (all I ask is that you bring something to the meeting, either a small offering to help cover the cost of the room rental, or a healthy snack to share, and it can be as a simple as a bag of healthy chips, or a natural drink). Once I have 5 people interested, we will decide on a place to meet, and then open it up to the Portland metro community.

"Adhyayanam" is a Sanskrit term often used for the study of Vedic Chanting. It means: coming closer to yourself. Learning to chant the Vedas is a tool for self observation. In this process, learning through a relationship with a teacher plays an important role because something unique happens when the teacher recites and you receive, when you listen and are being listened to-it is a touching and empowering experience. When you are learning Vedic chanting, there is so much focus on chanting technique and correct pronunciation of Sanskrit that you can easily forget the importance of listening to your own voice. But when you get comfortable with the process, your Inner Guru will appear.

Our modern lifestyle contributes to feelings of overstimulation, agitation and disconnection from the way our body, our breath, our mind and our emotions function as an integrated whole. There is something in the production of sound that if done with a certain intention integrates the body, breath, mind and emotions. And that integrative process is a healing process.

These Vedic mantras have been around for some 2,500-3,500 years, but are set to Western New Age music, making it easier for Americans to learn. You dont have to have a great voice (I don't), as the music and vocals will lead us through. Chanting has been so healing and empowering for me that I want to share it with our community.

If you have questions or know of a venue that's low cost and available monthly, please contact me.

Thank you!
