Scotland, Circa 1750. This is a one of a kind, mid 18th Century deeply Handcarved Dark Oak Gothic Scottish Court Cupboard/Buffet from our family estate. As you can see in the photos, it can be used as a bar or a sideboard/China cabinet to display your fine collectibles and dinnerware.
It is in great condition for its age with some general scuffing on the top setting area due to usage over the centuries but actually adds to the aesthetic and beauty of the piece (we think!).
Adorned with lion, horse, cherub, soldier and Scottish Thistle motifs, this incredible and whimsical piece is sure to be the talk-piece of your household or public pub but more importantly and historically, depicts images from the “Battle of Culloden” in Iverness/The Highlands. There is a family rumor that this beautiful piece once lived at Tulloch Castle, part of our family lineage.
For the buyer who wishes to display fine china or other collectibles, it has plate-holder rails on each shelf, so China or other collectible plates can be safely displayed upright, as you can see.
Photos don’t really do it justice. And the upper portion looks darker, as it is set back farther but in a well lit room will match the bottom piece much better.
The bottom section has two large drawers and the bottom has locking doors that open to two deep shelves each for storage. It also comes with the original key!
Serious inquiries only please. While we cannot locate the paper authentication from 2001, we do have documentation of the valuation at $14,500, thus, we are reducing the piece to a reasonable price of $9,950. No trades. Cash only, in person. Will not ship. Pick up only.
DIMENSIONS: (comes apart in two sections.)
61 1/2" wide
22 1/4" deep
