As part of the Telecare family, the Recovery Center at Gresham is a 16-bed facility, for adults 18+ with serious mental illness, primarily under civil commitment or guardianship.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Recovery Specialist II is a treatment team member who provides care to meet the physical and psychological needs of residents by providing direct and indirect services according to individual service plans and Medicaid standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
•High School Diploma or G.E.D and two (2) years of experience with psychiatric clients in mental health setting or BA/BS with one ( 1) year experience in mental health setting.
•Knowledge of basic nursing skills and interventions and mental and physical health conditions and terminologies.
•Certification as a CNA or its equivalent is acceptable documentation of nursing skills knowledge.
•For Washington programs- Must have a current Washington Agency Affiliated Counselor certification. In accordance with WA Administrative Code (WAC 388-865-0551) this position requires a current Washington State credential appropriate to this position and issued through the Washington Department of Health (WADOH). Minimum Credential Requirement – Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). First time AAC applicants may have a 30-90-day processing period before approval and active credentials are issued. Other WADOH Licenses/Certifications may be considered.
•If employed at Inpatient Program:
◦Ability to assist with restraint of clients in the event of assaultive behavior
◦Ability to pass assault crisis/crisis prevention training
•Must be CPR, ProAct or CPI and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment
•All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. Additional regulatory, contractual or local requirements may apply

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Demonstrate the Telecare mission, purpose, values and beliefs in everyday language and contact with the internal and external stakeholders.
•Provides safe, effective and efficient implementation of direct care in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care.
•Establishes and maintains and co-facilitates a therapeutic relationship with clients and acts as a role model in maintaining a hopeful and positive attitude in problem solving and coping with the disabilities associated with mental illness.
•Attends and participates in community meetings and groups.
•Charts and observes client behavior.
•Documents client activities of daily living, response to interventions, and significant behavior changes as appropriate.
•Admits and discharges patients as assigned, this includes completing associated documentation.
•Collects stool, urine and other specimens, as requested, on assigned clients.
•Obtains client vital signs and weights, as assigned.
•Assists clients with hygienic care.
•Assists clients at mealtime by distributing meal trays, pouring beverages and/or feeding clients in need of assistance.
•Provides client monitoring including but not limited to rounds, seclusion and restraint supervision and smoke breaks.
•Assists in client outings and/or driving.
•Practices body substance precautions at all times.

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted and/or changed at the discretion of management.

SKILLS
•Knowledge of basic psychiatric rehabilitation interventions
•Good communication skills
•Ability to use problem-solving techniques.
•Ability to interview clients to determine client needs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, twist, squat, kneel, crawl, climb and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently sit, walk, reach, bend and do simple and firm grasping of up to 50 pounds. The position requires manual.
