Position Title:                     Phlebotomist

Status/Hours:                    Full time, non-exempt

Reports to:                        Lead Medical Assistant


Our phlebotomists provide skillful support of the clinical team, helping to manage patient schedules and clinic flow as well as provider schedules.

  • Collects blood samples
  • Provides Point of Care Testing
  • Practices proper patient identification; labels vials with patient names
  • Verifies test requisitions to the patients in the lab
  • Determines best method for drawing blood depending on each patient
  • Centrifuges blood samples
  • Provides friendly, courteous, and sympathetic care to patients
  • Practices infection control at all times when working with patients and equipment
  • Resolves any non-resulted labs through Beacon or contacts LabCorp to get the orders resulted or faxed to the clinic
  • Keeps accurate and detailed documentation

Care Team Member

  • Maintain examination rooms and laboratory with appropriate supplies and equipment
  • Perform medical office and clerical tasks as needed
  • Actively participate in daily huddles with care team

Wallace Team Member

  •  Nurtures healthy working relationships and practices exceptional customer service with staff, volunteers, and patients
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and meetings
  • Maintains strict patient, staff, and organization confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned



  • Certification from a nationally accredited phlebotomy program
  • Current BLS certification
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work independently
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally as part of a team
  • Solid computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)


  • Fluent in Spanish strongly preferred; all multilingual speakers encouraged to apply
  • Current certification as a medical assistant from a nationally recognized program a plus
  • Experience working in a primary care setting
  • Experience working with patients who have multiple barriers to accessing care, such as poverty, language, mental illness, or housing
  • Experience using OCHIN Epic a plus
  • Experience with HIPAA a plus


This is a full time, hourly position that may require some evening or weekend hours. Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Duties are performed primarily in an office, clinic, and mobile clinic environment.
